Thanks for the info. I cut out a couple vents and ran a small fan above the stove to push the hot air upstairs also. It helped alot. Great job laying out how you moved the heat around.

I also have a Harman p68. My home is one of those open floor plans. Ceiling fans make a huge difference in keeping the air flow circulating. Just have to turn them on lowest setting. Haven't had any issues with my p68. It's over 10 years old.

Awesome video. This is basically the exact same layout as my house. We got it a 3 years ago now. Have done the vents in the floors like that too and plenty of ceiling fans. Would like one more fan in the main entrance to draw more heat up. Definitely could use some more efficient windows here but that will come with time.

nice, looking at putting in vents myself. basement is undeveloped and the roof is all open to the floor which is hardwood. gets to 25-27c with temp gun. Blowing cold air on the stove into the back, and then the front also makes a nice draft of cold air to stove. have an OAK englander PDVC so i just run ventilator fan on circulation (on 70% of time ). Just use as supplemental heat in basement, low burn, get about 25 hrs out of a bag (only on for 6-8 hours a day)

Great video. You probably should know that not all states will allow you to sell your house if there are open floor vents (no duct) for fire hazard reasons. I have the same style home. I’m looking for a way to open the ductwork on the lower level where the fireplace is and use the furnace fan to move the heat thru the house.

U can cut a whole in ur cold air return by the furnace and run the fan. It will suck all that hot air in, disperse thru vents

Make sure cutting holes or vents in your floors that it's to fire code. It usually is a fire hazard. If a fire we're to break out anywhere it can spread very fast with holes especially with fans.

Have you ever took out the feeder pusher arm, I have a P43 and it has been making a click on every revolution of the feeder bearing. When the arm comes down it is getting hung up on the last curve that brings it down or closing the slide plate.

Hi, I am thinking about putting a Harman Absolute Series in my living room. I have a chimney but I have been told we can’t use it and I hate thinking of putting another whole thru my home It is a brick home. See I too have a split level home and my chimney was used for a wood stove o the lower level. Now I am wanting more heat in our second level. The wood stove we had is old and eats up wood and we loose heat. So, I am in a fight with myself. I am in fear of the price of pellets too. Pellet stoves are much more work than a wood stove to me. I am 68 year old female and I don’t understand why we can’t just use the chimney. Can you help me understand why I can’t as the sales lady did not explain it in a way that I could grasp. Thank you so much for your videos, I am just trying to learn this new pellet stove thing. I grew up on wood stoves. So, I also wonder how would I heat the house if the electric goes off? Sorry Theresa I’m not sure, I always thought you could use a chimney but not 100% sure. My Harman goes through my wall. I would go on Facebook ad join the (Harman pellet stove owners) group. And ask that same question there are a few people in that group that probably could answer your question. I hope this helps.

I believe Harman is one of the best on the market. You just have to give a good cleaning a couple times a year. I would watch one of my videos showing how to clean before you make the decision to buy one. I love my Harman but I hate cleaning it. It will run forever if you do give it a good cleaning at least once a year. It depends on how much you use it. Nice video, I have an electric furnace in my house, Canada. I am trying to decide if I need to install two heat pumps(10 thousand dollars) or a pellet stove. What happens when you close all the doors? Do your bedrooms stay warm? Right now my ducted furnace goes everywhere but it costs me 600 dollars to run it in February. Thanks

I own a cape cod home thats only 32 x36. Built in 1996! Two bedrooms down , two up. bathroom on each level that are stacked. living room and kitchen open format like yours. I tried to get my p68 to heat my entire house with it installed in my finished basement but it went through so many pellets that way it wasnt cost effective. I was amazed that you keep your feed level so low on your settings as well . I was told not to do that because everyone says just because you turn that down doesnt mean you will save fuel. So I kept mine at 3-4 on feed. Im curious how many ton you burn a winter and what are your time frames from when you start the stove up....and stop using it. Im in pennsylvania....I also use a heat pump in the fall and spring as it is alot more cost effective than my electric base board heat. Come end of nov thru mid march I use pellots. Long story short I added a quadrafire in my living room on top of using my p68 stove to achieve comfort. Im not a deva either, Ive never kept my settings or therms set as high as you. im amazed you can keep that size home that warm with one stove. I would love to do so. I also cut a big vent in my floor abouve my stove in the living room to help. Also tried extending the temp wire off the stove up into the living room to try to trick the stove into producing more heat in the upper rooms. Even added a manifold onto the front of the p68 and fire the heat directly up into the vent. That worked ok....but still didnt keep the home warm. Yours just sitting there putting off heat and it radiating up the stairs is mind boggling to me. My stairs are even closer to my p68 then yours. I added the quadrafire and run it alone until the bitter months months of jan and feb...then i will turn the p68on downstairs to help aid in heating up the floors and the game room it sits in. For you to heat your entire home with one stove like mine is crazy to me. Good job

You would have to have your stove in the Basement. Ask this question on Facebook there are a lot of different pellet stove groups. You will get some good answers.

You have the perfect house for this the staircase if you could picture the airflow the top 3 feet or so would be colored red all the way up the stairs till it hits the ceiling in your second floor the bottom 5 feet of those stairs is a waterfall all blue coming downstairs till it gets back over to your Harmon where it gets picked up and recycled❤️‍🔥🇺🇸 What part of the country do you live in I am I would say northern New England and I’m thinking about putting one of those heat pumps in because we need air conditioning two or three days a year but the heat pump I don’t know but I would think anything above 30° the heat pump would take care of instead of burning oil? Could you fill us in on what how low of an outdoor temperature does your heat pump work efficiently? When it’s 50° outside what does it cost to heat the house in comparison to when it’s 20° outside? My thought is I could get somewhere into November with the heat pump and then someplace around the last week of February go back to the heat pump? What do you think how do you run yours?

My heat pump works real good for anything above 30° F. I probably could get by only using my pellet stove 2 months and my heat pump for the rest of the winter. I live in central Pa. They make much more efficient heat pump’s now. I think they will work down to 0°. Thanks for watching my video.

Has anyone ever tied in their pellet stove to an existing furnace? I got a pellet stove I put down in the basement (only spot where my kids won’t get into it). I get a little heat through the basement stairs with a fan but it only warms the kitchen and living room of my ranch. Is there something I can add to my cold air return and just run the fan to push it into bedrooms?

Yes and no at the time when I bought my house I thought it was my best option. If I could have used natural gas that would have been my first choice. It was cheaper than oil, propane, electric, and a easier than wood. I do use a ductless heat pump when it is not real cold I might have talked about that in the video. @@DIYJIM Yes you did say you used that heat pump. I felt like you pay some money but it's still cheaper than natural gas depending on how cold it is. A wood stove is a great ambiance but it's a hell of a lot more labor intensive
