How I Help My Three Legged Dog, Go To The Bathroom. She Is Getting Old & Is Having Trouble

This Is our morning routine. She always wants to be where ever I am at. It is getting hard for her to follow me around, so sometimes I get her on the blanket & drag her from room to room.

It is difficult at times dealing with a three legged dog. But I don't want her to ever, feel like a burden. She has had some bumps in the road. I want to make her last years as smooth as I can. What a sweet girl. It looks like on the soft carpet in the morning she has trouble getting up, maybe she feel unsure of her footing once she ready to get off up she comes. It's hard to seem the age , but I can she she's a fighter and doing it the best she can looks a lot of go left in her yet at her pace. Blessing to you both and a Happy New Year

Actually she gets better traction on the carpet. I put the rug at the door because she slip & fell on the tile once. She is over weight which doesn't help. I missed giving her the "Tick Gard" at some point & the vet said that she has Lime Disease. That she will get weak & will start to fall down. Which she does, even outside. Please don't miss giving your pets their preventive care. It breaks my heart, I know it's my fault. Thank for your kind words. I wish you all Good Health & Happiness.

@@belindajcaruso I would have thought the carpet was more traction I was thinking the softness must make it feel too soft and less stable but I could be wrong there too, I have been before lol. Too bad on the lime disease , but don't blame yourself you're giving her the best life possible that's what counts my friend,

@@tuckerandi She does have trouble getting out of the bed something. She use to sleep with me. She can no longer get in my bed, not even with steep. She "Doesn't Like" me to pick her up. So I love on her before bed & wake up with kisses in the morning. I try to give her as much attention as I can. Again Thank you for your kind words.

I have a 15 year old with dementia so I understand. How about getting a baby carriage and/or a ramp? It would help.

I will try the ramp but she really doesn't like to be pick up. She act like you are killing her. I need something that slides on the rug better. It didn't take her long to get use to the idea of me pulling her around. I will be in my office & she will be in the living room & she will bark like, "Hey, I stuck in here, come get met." Thanks for the tip.

@belindajcaruso what about a nylon sleeping bag? I would think that would work better on carpet. Also move the other rugs out of the way so you don't create friction.

@@belindajcaruso You could get one of those round plastic kid sleds and put a blanket or towel in. They have handles, and would slide across your carpet, also up and down the stairs. She could climb right on it. They have different shapes as well and are inexpensive. Good luck to you and your sweet lady!
