Your hair is absolute goals but just a view tips.. if you mix the henna the night before, you don’t have to leave it on as long. Also black henna is really indigo and youre not supposed to mix indigo with boiling water.. it causes it to release more red tones. Thats the reason it sometimes doesnt come out as dark like you said. AND most important: NEVER mix the powder with a metal fork or spoon as it can cause a chemical reaction and actually give parts of your a green tint.

Some black hennas are indigo mixed with henna as well. I had better results with the mixed combination than just pure indigo. Pure indigo I found was so hard to work with on it’s own and super stinky lol 😂

I completely agree with feeling anxiety when it comes to trimming your hair. My hair was thick, healthy and long down to behind my knees and i wanted a trim. My father's wife volunteered to take me and i agreed (little did i know her and my father were getting divorced, her not being my mom) but i just wanted no more than 2 inches cut off just a trim.... So i seen her whispering to the barber before cutting it but i was very passive and stayed silent till i heard the scissors clip and saw a huge length of hair fall. I panicked but it was too late cuz she started right in the center of my back. When she was done my hair was just below my ears, i was crying and it has traumatized me ever since. It has been 14 years since that happened and my hair still isn't as long as it used to be just finally to the center of my butt. So i am definitely connected and protective over my hair big time.

Can imagine the anxiety. My daughter had fear of anyone cutting her hair as a toddler. I refused to cut her hair as she wanted it long and somebody chopped it off with garden scissors when I wasn't around. She was devastated. Now she has beautiful long hair. There's alot of jealous people about. I hope you reported that person that did that to youxx

My hair is similar as yours, length, thickness, fullness, colour and I totally get what you mean when you say you're nervous about getting it cut. Hair dresser DO get overwhelmed by that much hair and most of them don't know how to deal with it, which is a fairly annoying because I'd 100% rather them be honest and tell me that they can't provide that service for me than them ruining my hair because they thought they could and having to pay hundreds of dollars on top of that. I feel like most of them care less about it when you have long hair for some reason? Like in their mind 10cm is the same as 20 or 30. And telling them that they cut it too short doesn't help at all because I've legit had hair dresser tell me "well you still have a lot left so it's not a big deal" ... This is so frustrating, because had it been on someone with shorter hair that lenght could LITERALLY be the difference between shoulder length and a pixie cut ... Wich are two drastically different hairstyles! So because I have a "lot of it" my hair is less valued and that's not okay. Which is a paradox because when you have hair this long, and you explained it perfectly, it does become a huge part of your look and also personnality, so yeah! The blatant lack of respect for what I wanted and also the pretty random but spooky fact that e-v-e-r-y hairdresser that cut my hair cut themselves with their scissors made me teach my self to cut my own hair and I haven't been happier hairwise. At first I was very scared but then I told myself "If my hair is going to be ruined I'd rather be the one responsible for it" which is a bit sad haha Anywho sorry for my rant, I'm very passionnate about that subject and people just don't get it at all! So i'm really happy that you made that video, it was great as always ♥

Yess I relate to this 100%, it upsets me to see that this seems to be the overall experience for people with long thick hair where the barber thinks they have any sort of entitlement to say wether it’s ok or not to do. I wish there was some sort of system or program where you could leave reviews on barbers specifically for this problem, because I’ve had very reputable and expensive salons do this exact thing, and then be upset and annoyed with ME when they see that I’m upset with the result. The fact that the charge me double and take longer with the excuse the I have a lot of hair is outrageous considering they cut it all away. I’ve been cutting my own hair since and yes I fucked up royally twice where I ended up with ear length hair but at least it was inexpensive and my own doing

I'm just starting my henna journey yesterday to achieve darker hair and cover my grey hair. I applied it on my virgin brownish hair, there are some grey hairs too. I really love the result! It's really dark, it covers all the grey hair nicely, and it made my hair feels healthier, stronger, thicker and smoother too. I wish i discovered black henna sooner, because chemical hair dye is damaging to my weak brittle hair.

I totally understand your rant about hairdressers cutting off more than you asked for. I’ve been extremely frustrated and end up sitting there and regretting not leaving. I’m polite like you and hated what was butchered off when I get home and see what was left. My entire family does not want me to cut my hair short like all the other moms out there. My hair was past my butt until the last trim. I’m waiting for it to grow back to where I’m comfortable with it. It is such a personal preference. Almost like a shield. I love my hair...don’t mess with it and we will all be good 😛😇. Loved your henna video with all your thoughts, experiences, what works, how long to keep it on, and what a mess it causes. Thank you for being honest and real. I’m going to wait until I can completely commit before I do this. You remind me of my youngest daughter. I’m going to recommend your channel to her.

I'm back. Let me just say I'm so happy I came across your video. I've been searching so long for a black henna that would take to my hair because my hair has some greys and is stubborn. The Roots always end up turning out brown or it Fades quick. And this goes for both henna hair dyes and synthetic dyes for my hair. So I took a chance and I bought this henna because I like your hair so much, and let me say it was the best thing I could have ever did the color came out just as black as your hair absolutely beautiful. The Roots were totally covered the greys were totally covered and even after I washed it two days after it did not fade or anything else like it normally does right after I dye it. I did it exactly how you do your hair. On dirty dry hair and left it on for 4 hours the results were amazing. I've also learned that I can't put any kind of oil on my hair because it doesn't help with keeping the henna in you have to leave a natural kind of leave-in conditioner without oil. I also bought all natural shampoo without oil or sulfates or salt. I've been following all the other directions for henna all this time they say to apply on clean hair and all that other stuff well it really didn't work for me. Ty again!

I did glosses to keep the dark aspect and it does make my hair very shiny and it's thicker (naturally thick. But using ayurvedic hair care helped me recover my childhood thickness.) so Henna and ayurveda is a YES in my book hair wise

I hate getting my hair cut by other people. The best thing i ever did was learn how to cut my own layers a few years ago, honestly. I too had an aweful experience in spain, this woman told me my hair was too thick for her to handle and that it's best to put some very short layer in at the top. So she straight up took like half my hair from the top and just snipped it.... i wanted to cry so bad, but i just sat there and didn't say a thing. I never asked her to do that, she just did it anyway and it really messed me up inside for i'd say even a few years after, because that's how long it took for my hair to regain that length i once had. So yeah.... no one's ever touching my hair ever again. Hair is sacred. Thank you for this video, my hair is just like your natural dark auburn hair, but i always liked black hair... definitely going to give this a shot, because it looks so beautiful 😍

I know what you mean about your hair being part of your identity. Mine was really long in high school and my older sibling convinced me to cut a lot of it off (to be fair it was really damaged...so I don't blame them) and now that I've gotten it healthy, its a huge part of who I am. So much so I started a KZbin channel on it 😓 but I would be so traumatized if someone cut my hair off like that! Even knowing what was coming, I was traumatized when my sibling, who was the one who cut it, took almost a foot off. I'm started cutting my own hair because if that.

My hair long upto my waist and the lady who "trimmed" it (cut it off) up to the nape of my neck. I was devastated to be honest since my hair grows very slowly. So yeah. Can relate.

Actually, herbal dyes like henna & indigo are supposed to be used on just-washed hair (so, the opposite of chemical dyes)! Never on dirty hair, that's just a big no-no, they won't stick or penetrate hair shaft, as they should. ;) (I used to henna for years, but I realized I love changing my hair colour a lot, so something you can't get out of your hair is not ideal for me...) And yeah, I can relate to the haircut story, I never let strangers touch my hair anymore, I can just as well cut it myself, so why would I :)

No it is hard when someone messes up your body and hair is a part of us. I personally cut my own hair using one pony and then the front I use unicorn cut in three steps for the front layers. It takes forever to grow when you get a certain age. I got you. Have someone film the process and then try to recreate it at home is what I suggest. Anyways love your video 💕

The henna you're using is not 100% the henna plant, Lawsonia inermis. That is why you can't put it on processed hair or use any kind of hair dye over it, the hair will melt, just like you said. However for people reading this, you can absolutely put 100% pure henna over processed hair. The ingredient list MUST say ONLY Lawsonia inermis, be very careful of that. The thing is though, you can't get the kind of lucious black Foroogh has with pure henna, only shades of orange, red and burgundy. You can also put dye over *pure* henna but there's a good chance the color won't take because henna coats the hair and the chemical dye can't go through it. And in any case please always do a test strand!

I've used pure henna (the kind that turns orange) and indigo to make my gray roots black, and tbh I don't like henna/indigo because it's such a time consuming process. So I use chemical dyes all the time. I've never used black henna itself though because I heard black henna is dangerous. Do you think I should let chemical dye fade from my gray roots first before I try black henna?

@@SabinaEngland if you want to use black henna you have to grow out your grey hair completely I'm afraid. I agree that the double process of henna + indigo is really tiresome, and indigo has a foul smell imo!

@@AbKhaos omg I agree, the smell of indigo makes me gag lol. I don't mind the smell of henna since I am Indian and am used to the smell of henna from special festivals and parties. I just dyed my roots jet black last week so I guess I'll wait a few weeks until my roots turn gray again.

I bleached my hair back in 2018 and then dyed red but I hated it and been dying my hair jet black with revlon hair dye so I was wondering if I could use the dye she is using on the video on my hair?

You can get black henna that has pure henna in it with the term you used and pure indigo and it’s safe to use on chemically treated hair. I use light mountain black henna and before the henna I dyed my hair chemically blue black for seven years. Although it is hard to reach that pure black tone like you said if you don’t have virgin hair.

Hi Foroogh! I henna my hair too but with a natural henna not a colored one and I add to it some natural oils and leave it for about 1 or 2 hours then I apply it to my hair. And I've heard that henna do grow white hair and that what happened to me, I don't know if it happened to you too?

i'm dying mu hair black with black-blue standard tint for about 4 months by now. Do you think i could switch to henna? Or could it be risky? I was told once that henna has a bad reaction with hair previously dyed... And one more: does the henna give a blue hint to the black? I'd really appreciate an answer! This tint I've been doing is destroying my hair...

It’s totally fine. I dyed my hair blue black chemically for 7 years and switched to henna. It is harder to get chemically treated hair to bind with the henna at first than it would be to virgin hair but the more layers of henna you have on your hair the more vibrant the color and the better the results. I would recommend doing the two step process first then after that do the one step henna plus indigo. The bad reaction is what comes from some hennas out there that have added salts to them. Get pure henna and indigo. If you don’t like it you can even go back to chemically dying your hair as long as you are using pure henna and indigo. That is what I have gathered so far. I’m not a professional but to my experience I didn’t have any bad reactions to switching. I have not switched back to chemically dying my hair though.

Could the mini lump behind your ear be a cyst? I had one of my ears re-pierced a few months ago, and I had a couple of weird lumps come up. I had a check up with the piercer, who was very professional, and that's what she said it was. She said just to rinse the ears with warm water when you have a shower. Mine have gone down now, but it took a few months to do so. Also, you could try Saline solution if you haven't already. Regarding the metal used for the earring, my piercer recommended using only titanium as it was the least likely to cause a reaction and be rejected.

OMG!!!! YOU ARE MY TWIN!!! I understand what you're saying. I HAVE THE SAME IDENTICAL HAIR STYLIST ANXIETY FOR THE SAME REASON EXCEPT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN VERY VOCAL . ... I am super nice but once they fuck up, nope!! Lol. I BRING A PHOTO TO THE CONSULTATION. BEFORE I SIT IN THE CHAIR, I ASK THEM DIRECTLY, " CAN YOU GET MY HAIR TO LOOK LIKE THIS???" AFTER RUNNING THEIR FINGERS THROUGH MY HAIR, THEY REPLY, " YES." ....WTF... then, they fuck up.....then, they act like you're crazy, complete gaslighting!!! The end product looks nothing like the photo I brought in.... I UNDERSTAND 100% WHAT YOU'RE SAYING..... HAIR IS EXTREMELY PERSONAL AND SEMI-PERMANENT.... IT IS NOT LIKE TOE NAILS....IT TAKES AT LEAST 6 MONTHS TO MAKE IT LOOK THE WAY IT DID BEFORE THE STYLIST F--KS IT UP. LOL. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SPEAKING UP.❤🙏

Only thing I'm confused on is I've always been told to wash your hair directly before without conditioning because it grabs onto coarser hair. Then condition when washing out, and don't wash afterward for 24-48 hours. Your hair is gorgeous btw.

@haileybailey95 3 жыл бұрын
Same. Usually you are supposed to wash your hair with sulfate free shampoo only and apply it to towel dried hair. It’s way easier to apply to damp hair than dry hair.
@Alabamaisnotmyrealname
@Alabamaisnotmyrealname Жыл бұрын
That’s bc this isn’t henna it’s a henna BASED dye. So if u wash it directly before, this stuff is still harsher than pure henna/indigo and has potential to have some damaging effects if hair is super porous from just washing it.
