i must say, I really like the detailing - mostly when you do it offcamera or at high speeds. I amazes me how much detail it's possible to achieve in Skylines, and while I by no means have the patience (or time) to do it myself, it pleases me greatly when I can sit and relax, watch someone else do the dirty work, and just enjoy the finished result.

29:05 - the road under the text doesn't connect. Also don't forget crossings because otherwise people can't get from one side of the road to the other. These normally come with junctions but you have very few of them in this new area.

A ferry dock at the end of the road sailing over to the islands would be very pleasant. A bridge while being simply too ostentatious would draw highway amounts of traffic down through that lovely little Main Street you just built. Jolly good episode!
@RazeR80232 жыл бұрын
2:21, not necessarily something wrong but just a side note, when doing lane markings it's usually the turning lane you (motorist) have to cross the dashed lines for, if you're being realistic at least.

Enjoyed the detailing. I think a few more large trees near the "Lungs of the City" could taper it off a bit. 37:30 The bus has to go all the way down the end of the road to turn around anyway, might as well have a stop up there. Has paths connecting other streets there, so it could be useful.

Hi, Biffa! Thanks for the video! At 37:15, where you set the bus route, it doesn't take the people from Hickory District to school. Congrats on the 100k! Small fix: add two connections at the very end of your main 2x2 road coming into the Hickory area. One going left and one going right along the coast. Connectivity will be higher and the bus will take these quicker routes as well
@speelydan2 жыл бұрын
As far as the buses go, I would have set up one loop (or two clockwise/counterclockwise loops) that just encircles the neighborhood, with one of the stops right near the entrance/exit to the community - then have another back-and-forth route picking people up from that entrance/exit stop and carrying them to one or two other nearby major transit hubs. They'll pay the bus ticket to get to the exit, then pay another to get to a transit hub, then pay another to get on whatever transit source heading to their destination, etc. etc. etc.

Also an idea is to put gravel paths on beaches for people to walk and add some tents so that it will seem like people are coming on beach to sun bath. Also can add some volleyball courts there. Also this lovely area can have trams as European theme. You extended a district with highrise ban and added high density housing to get high rise People cannot go from. Residential to high school.. Hickory District looks very cool, I think I recently suggested a residential area with detailed gardens so if that's why you did it, thank you very much! Those paths around 22 mins aren't really adding more connectivity (connecting ends of roads does, obviously). What's needed are some crossing paths that connect the back alley path to the roads along each street, possibly coupled with a pedestrian crossing to allow peds to go from street to street without having to walk to one end or the other.

(Day late to the party) A patient has been diagnosed with detail bug bitten. Symptoms include detailing areas that would otherwise be ignored. Treatment requires reminding the patient that they are not a hyper detailer. We'll send them for treatment in our physiatry. (Two point hospital reference) A bridge across at the point you were talking about would be helpful for traffic on those islands when you expand out there. It would in ways be similar to the PEI Bridge in Canada. (Technically it's named 'Confederation Bridge' - The bridge is just a box girder bridge with a length of 12.9 kilometers [8 miles] so anything you do there would be realistic for those that overly care about that.)

You can control zoning on streets with fences. If you put a fence beside a road then that zoning gets turned off allowing for other roads to get priority. Sometimes you have to use the MoveIt! mod to "reset object" in order for the zoning to readjust. You could use this trick in some of your new areas where you want zoning on one side of the road but not the other - like your high residential area across from the distribution centre.

Biffa, as someone who likes making american-style gridded suburbs that are similar to this, lemme offer my hint: DONT use road-guidelines when making a grid or symmetrical roads. go by the road length and angles, and make sure you count the available cells between the roads as you go along. You'll develop an ingrained pattern in your mind as you construct the roads!
@nickylaurent46932 жыл бұрын
Hey Biffa, just a thought. In the optimal circumstance couldn't you get 4 lanes of traffic to move through an intersection at once with timed traffic lights. so 4 roads from each compass direction so letting the traffic from the north do right turns the traffic from the west turn right. the traffic from the south could then turn right and the traffic from the east could turn left... I know that would not move every vehicle but it would move ALLOT of vehicles at once.
