Maybe someone knowledgable can enlighten me: What's the purpose of reading out loud to the kids? Shouldn't THEY be practicing their reading?
@OurTribeofMany
@OurTribeofMany 4 жыл бұрын
Vanessa H. They read a ton on their own. Much more than what I read aloud to them. The books I read out loud are a little above their reading level so it stretches their vocabulary and sometimes introduces more difficult topics that we can discuss while reading. A lot of living history books so it is like text books come to life. It also is great bonding time!

Sarah, I’m a teacher, and reading out loud to your children is just as important for helping them learn to read as them practicing reading themselves. Just want you to know that, don’t let the haters hate!! ❤️

Sarah, could you make a “new born 101” kind of video? It’s so rare to have someone as experienced with kids as you, and all of your kids a re so different now, so probably they were also different as newborns, what should new moms know? Pay attention to? What is something you fussed over with number 1 but learned over the years and babies not to worry about? Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with us!

Sarah...loved this. Seth is so beautiful..as are all your children. I am a grandmother and mother of 4. My children attended Christian school but I did a lot of supplemental work with them at home. I read to my children from the time they were babies. I think they associated my voice with having a soft place to land after a rough day. So many great memories of those times. God Bless your beautiful family.

I appreciate the tips in this video and your channel. I read to my children always,now my grandchildren. They get to all love reading and love books. As a child my mom last read to me at 7yrs. As we no longer lived together,very few of my guardians read to me or helped with reading. I struggled with following others reading,so I was taught a special way to read. I understand better by reading,as I became deaf at an early age. Unfortunately many musicians and singers loose some or all hearing due to loud music. Mine is assumed to be a combination of both of those and lots of ear infection. Back to reading out loud: In college my professors had us read out loud and they read to us as well. That was a challenge but I used a special device to keep up. You're doing a good job with homeschooling Sarah,it's not very easy but doable. Thanks for sharing.
