I’m hoping with the 4 year age gap and my other four being more independent, I can successfully BF for her first year of life. Thank you SO much for all your insight, tips, and tricks!! I had a baby 7w premature and have been trying to teach him how to breastfeed, but he needed to learn to eat out of the bottle to be discharged so that was the focus. I had to exclusively pump through that time and still to this day - he’s 11 weeks old now. I never knew about this facet of motherhood before and I’m 40 and it is the most difficult part of being a mom. All I talk and complain about is pumping. He hasn’t had to be supplemented and I’m keeping up with him but I can only freeze about 6oz a day. I would like to have a bit more of a supply...I have a Spectra and just got the Willow on a Black Friday deal. Just tried it out today but I’m hoping it’ll help. 4 hours stuck on the couch a day is so difficult. Plus practicing breastfeeding 2-3x a day then pumping and then feeding out of a bottle is a LONG process.

Sometimes herbal supplements have the opposite effect on your body and may actually hurt your supply. I only add oatmeal to my daily diet, massage while pumping, use both flanges and the letdown mode as often as needed. Massaging helps loosen up the milk in your ducts while pumping which leads to more milk production. Exclusively pumping here and pumping just over 70 ounces at 8 weeks postpartum. With my last baby, it went down to mid 60s after dropping the overnight/motn pump session. Oh, I also rub my breasts or hold my baby close to my chest between sessions to stimulate your nipples. I can feel it working because it causes a light stinging sensation. Hope this helps.

Hi! I love your videos. Can you please tell me if I can still relactate with my situation? I was an over supplier with 40-45oz in a 24hr period, from my baby’s 2nd month till her 5th. My milk started to decrease on her 6th month because I got sick and I was adjusting with my work schedule. It decreased up 20-24oz a day. Now, I’ve been trying to pump every 2 hours to regain my supply and now she’s on her 8th month. And still with the same output. Is there still a chance of increasing or should I just accept it? Thanks!

I was never able to build my supply because I got my tubes tied 24 hours after giving birth and there were complications from surgery and I was away from my baby on another floor recovering. They brought a pump into my recovery room but I was sooo weak that I couldn’t lift my head. at home I was using a walker to help me walk and had family help, giving her formula but I never stopped breastfeeding less than twice a day. now she’s 4 weeks and I’m feeling better and I’m building my supply. My baby is two months old and I can barely make 7 to 8 oz a day. But I also breastfeed him. Si he eats at any time he wants and when I want to pump u can because he might want to eat at the same time I should be pumping so it’s hard to pump sometimes. I pump maybe 3 to 4 times a day an use a hakaa when I’m nursing him and only get about one oz with the hawkaa. I wish I could get like you. The thing is u need my milk to make it 24 cal since he was a premature baby he needs more cal so have to pump and he need to eat about 2 oz if it every 3 hrs so it’s hard for me.

Wow I could have used this when I was pumping for my twins! Towards the end I had a very hard time keeping a supply stocked! I definitely agree that oatmeal was one of my biggest helps, the all natural rolled oats with flax and brown sugar was my go to! I never heard about switching up the pump, I only used my spectra, maybe a different pump would have helped a lot. I’m glad you told what you do with your hand pump, I hated using it, but I will definitely try your method with holding it down until the milk stops. Great tips!

Same here. We had a same problem with latching and pediatrician over there said that don't give him bottle. Try to latch, try to latch. We was trying hard but nothing was working.when he was second or third day old he was crying almost 5-6 hrs out of hunger and I was crying too. I can't forget those days and can't forgive myself as a mother. He's 3 month old now and he started latching but now my milk supply is low. So still I am mixed feeding him. I hope a day will come when I could do exclusively breast feed him.

This is completely normal. A typical session is .5 to 2 ounces PER SESSION, not per side. From lactation consultants, anything over 4 oz per session is considered an oversupply. I am struggling to feel like I pump enough when all these videos show 4+ oz per session or per side AND only pumping a couple times a day. My baby takes about 5 to 15 ounces while at day care. I pump 8 to 16 ounces per day while work. I try to get in a couple extra at home and at night to keep building a stash but try not to feel discouraged!!

How much of the electrolyte do you drink in a day ? Do you just have one glass of electrolyte water and then normal water the rest of the day or do you add the electrolyte powder to the whole gallon of water ?
@MommyShark
@MommyShark 3 жыл бұрын
The recommendation is on the ultima box . So if you want it really sweet, put in only one glass of water and if you want a small hint of taste, put in a gallon .

If I breast feed and pump would I need another pump or does the baby serve the function of changing the routine? He is 14 days old and I’ve been supplementing a little bit too some days I just can get enough to feed him!

My baby is 2 months old and I make about 34oz a day. I am always pumping every 3 hours and I just got over mastitis. I thought I wasn’t making enough milk but i am making enough to feed him and put some away. I do eat oatmeal 2-3 times a week. I switch between my lansioh electric pump, lansioh hand pump, and ameda electric pump. I use it as a single pump while I have a haakaa on the other boob

My hospital experience with breast feeding was awful. I begged for a nipple shield, I begged for a pump. I ended up formula feeding in the hospital. I didn't get to pump until day 4 after he was born. Then when I got home I ended up getting an infection where I had stitches. So it's the 5th day and I'm making maybe an oz usually less a session. 😐

I recently bought the elvie pump. Before using it i was getting 4 to 5 ounces per pumping with my medela. I have been using the elvie and medela both for past week and half and my supplies has dropped and its becoming painful to pump. I think I am putting the elvie on properly I put on in the mirror to get correct alignment. I have ordered the electrolyte powder you suggested and drink lots of water. Is there anything else I could try to help increase my supply?
@MommyShark
@MommyShark 3 жыл бұрын
if the Elvie doesn't work , you need to make sure you go and pump with your medela, do not miss a pump. Try the Haaka if you breastfeed on the other side.

Do i need to feed my baby then pump or pump then feed so i can over load Cuz my baby is 12 days old she drinks every 2 hours how can i save and increase if i keep pumping 60ml every time i pump and she drinks it all i dont breastfeeding directly from my breast cuz my baby have issues with sucking any tip please

I would feed baby first then pump , you want a full breast for baby so baby doesn’t get frustrated and tired . Then baby will be under fed from trying so hard

With regards to the willow pump, I got it so I can pump hands free after breastfeeding to increase supply. But turns out it's not really helpful for that. It does not switch to expression mode until there is good flow of milk, which never happens in my case because my supply is low. So it just keep on going on stimulation mode. But with my medela swing maxi I can switch manually to expression mode. Do you have any tips for how to hack willow to go to expression mode because that will help me.
@noeliatejeda1702
@noeliatejeda1702 4 жыл бұрын
Sherene Carroll I’m not sure how the expression is on the willow but you could try power pumping with the expression. Pump for 20, rest for 10, pump for 10 rest for 10 pump for 10. It’s okay if you don’t get much milk out the point is to make the body think more milk is needed.
