Hi, all! In this video I take you through how I introduce and organize my word work centers at the beginning of the year. My district uses Collaborative Classroom's Being A Reader for our foundational lessons, but the activities are all determined by the teacher. These are what I use to start getting my students working independently. I show you photos and videos of my students completing their word work activities, and also share how I organize and differentiate their activities. I hope you find this helpful!

Thank you I have been looking for a strategic layout and this is it thanks again. I’m going into my fourth year and creating my centers and running them has been my challenge. I’m looking forward to getting them set up for this 2024-2025 school year.

It took me a few years to figure centers out as well, but this method really did work well for my Kindergarteners! Too bad I didn't figure it out until my last year of classroom teaching, LOL - I'm now in the library where I don't have to worry about small groups/centers anymore. 😂

What did your other kids do while you did the one on one assessments with your kids and how often do you switch out your centers?

They played with the word work bins, or were on their computers doing Imagine Math or Imagine Language and Literacy. Both of those had pretests they had to complete at the start of the year.
