Family support whether biological or chosen is one of the most important factors in helping a loved one with recovery journey. It offers the emotional, and moral encouragement to deal with issues related to self-esteem and self image after addiction. He is not bashing his sisters/family (matter of fact he is accepting accountability) at all rather he is saying, he wanted to have a sense of belonging after rehab and where best to go to first than your own family. For those making insensitive remarks, shame on you. Educate yourselves on addiction and hope to God it never happens to your loved ones coz no one is immune. Shame on the family. Well done Ken. You keep pushing. Mytwocents.

And even if they have, they help by choice and one should not be accused of not helping cos they don’t owe us their help. The beauty of not getting help from family is that you don’t become their slave for the rest of your life paying back their help… God can use strangers more than a family.
