I saw you comment on someone else's video, clicked on your name & here I am. I've always loved paper, making lists, & jotting things down. I've never journaled but when we started traveling twice a year to Europe, I would keep receipts etc so I could remember where we ate or what we did. (of course it's never made it into a book) I ran across Catherine at Sterling Ink & loved her artwork. I sketch & do watercolors & thought I would buy a TN from her & subscribe to her monthly kit. I absolutely love her kits but I couldn't figure out how to use it. I originally thought I'd use it as a daily journal & memory keeping when we go on our trips but that has become overwhelming to think about doing every single day & the reason is I am a stay at home wife who rarely goes anywhere & I do the same thing everyday. Read, color, watch tennis, cook dinner, clean, do puzzles, sketch.....all the things that are repetitive & don't require planning. I haven't written one thing down all month. There are monthly calendars, goals, dailies and blank pages in her books. I was stressing out about how I was going to use up all that space but you made me realize how to use it. I will decorate it with all of her lovely stickers, jot notes on my 'boring' days and write more on the back pages when I have thoughts to put down or when something 'bigger' happens. TY!!!! (sorry for the long post)

I love that you found a way to make journaling work for you after all. When I hosted my journal club I used the quote below to help anyone who hadn’t journaled before and thought their day was not fulfilling enough to journal get started….write about “the beauty of ordinary days”. I cannot tell you how it inspired them to think, as they say, outside the box for what to record about their day, their lives. It’s what you did, about making the mundane special cause it’s all in how we look at things. Just happened upon your channel and enjoyed listening to your walkthrough. ☺️

I have kept a diary since I was 12. I’m 47.5 now. From 12-20, I had a student planner (a6) & diary (b7). I become a single mother at 20, & had an hourly ring Franklin convey, which I used until I was 23 & started using a palm pilot for work & traditional journal book, then when I became a teacher at 27, they all had Erin condren which I used the teacher size until I was 36, when I switch over to happy planner in the classic size until I retired, got remarried, become a stay at home mom at 40. That’s when the search for planner peace begun because what worked before wasn’t working, so one year was plum planner, then pipsticks, Erin condren horizontal, a5 aura Estelle (2 days on 1 page), b6 wonderland 222, a6 kinbor, & now this year, hobonichi a5 avec. I use to have a system that worked but not working & being a mom of a small child, married, all things I wasn’t for many years, has me now searching for the system that works best for me. So the search for planner peace exists, & I think I’m getting closer & finding I now don’t want sticker kits, & like more doodling, writing, & I guess plainer layouts, but it’s more me with things I cut out, pictures, quotes I hear, etc, my life. So all what you talked about happen to me too, so you’re not alone in your experience! I think it’s normal for what you need & want to change over the years.

@@Lorelei_Thoughts Lorelei thank you so much for watching but most importantly thank you for sharing your story! It definitely sounds familiar as far as planners go. And you mentioned Palm pilot. Oh man. I forgot about that. I loved my Palm pilot!! lol I’m so glad to hear I’m not alone when it comes to trying to figure out what’s best the best journal practice in this season of my life. I can totally understand having just the a simple system. I’m the same way. When it’s too much. I won’t do it. If it’s too complicated. I will not keep it up. I really appreciate you sharing your story!!

@ it’s funny I loved my palm pilot in my early 20’s but never liked digital planners (my phone, computer) afterwards. I’m definitely a paper person! Even my reading books, just couldn’t embrace the nook, then kindle/iPad, idk. Guess I’m just old school. Some days I don’t have enough room in my planner, other days nothing really but I like the messy look of my planner because it’s me. :). It’s those empty days that gives me room for the busier days. Years ago, I started saving grocery receipts, gas receipts, etc & it’s neat looking back at what stuff cost 5, 10 years ago! So that’s an idea if you were looking for something else to put in an empty space.

@ oh my gosh! Same. I tried utilizing my phone. But prefer paper and tried to read on my iPad. I can’t. lol I prefer the real Book. lol. Oh my gosh. I have a collection of reciepts. They multiply no matter what I do with them. lol. Every year I’m left with a basket of receipts and paperwork that I have to shred. It’s crazy as I have an IT degree so I would have to be on computers. But prefer no technology. Only sometimes.

Great video, new subscriber. I’m also retired - I don’t have a lot of appointments to fill in, the kids are grown & through college, living their lives beautifully - so, my main TNs and Hobonichi books are for documenting moments, life events, weather, and thoughts. Hopefully, I will never give up pen to paper & stickers bring me so much joy. Cheers!

Very much enjoyed this video. I've struggled to find what works for me. I love decorating pages, i would like to start adding photos but don't have a printer. So i decorate and then copy down quotes, verses, song lyrics, whatever is speaking to me. I rarely write my own words.
@marihiraya.archives17 сағат бұрын
I can understand that! But it looks like you found a system that you enjoy for now? I have a few photo printers but rarely add it to my journaling because I do an “our year in photos” that I do with a phot printing place that makes photo books. I want to do better at writing quotes. I did start a common place book. So hopefully I can get that started there :) Thank you for sharing your process!! And thank you for watching! ❤️

@ihay472 I ordered the canon ivy & hp sprocket paper. It doesn't use ink and the pictures are 2x3 and have a sticky back. I love it bc you can print thin pictures and stick them in your journal. It's also small enjoy to take with you.

I too am having a bit of a time deciding where my planning/journaling is at this point in my life. Been a planner girl since my mom would put one of the tiny, free, Hallmark calendars in my stocking every Christmas in the 70s. I’m back in my Weeks after a few strays. I’ve been in Hobonichi since I left the Happy Planner about 10 years ago. Have tried all a5 and a6 including Avec. Even had a year in Jibune. Could you share where your girl stickers are from? I love them!!
