I tried too many times to keep orchids alive and eventually just gave up with them all together. XD Thanks for the gardening tips on orchids, I do love plants as well, and am slowly adding plants to my studio.

This was random yet helpful. I follow you for art but thank you for the little detour to orchids. I got one for my birthday this month from a friend. I’ve never grown orchids before so I’m happy for the knowledge you shared. You’ve solidified what my friend recommended to me. She said just run water over the soil for about 20 seconds once a week. Your video helped explain their light and water needs in much more detail. So, thank you.

So glad you actually posted this! I'm waiting for my flowers to drop so I can repot my orchid and I would have been at a loss on how to do it as it's my first ever orchid and it was already in bloom when I bought it. This is going to be a HUGE help thank you!

Love the painting & sooooo love orchids, but I'm a habitual over-waterer so I've started gardening with far less expensive things; vegetables. Learning lots about gardening atm. Sorry to say I really don't find live streams enjoyable, the low-tech feeling makes them way too much like a 1980s long distance phone call for me

Then main reason people kill houseplants is from over watering. Once you can find that balance it's much easier :D

I have an orchid that I bought at Kroger’s. At the time I bought it with flowers and after 4 years it is still alive and it makes new leaves every few months. But it never bloomed since. How sad 😞- I cannot get it to re-bloom for anything.

It may need a drop in temperature at night. That 10 degree difference every night for couple of months will usually trigger it to spike. Keeping it alive that long is awesome though! You're off to a better start than I was when I first started lol.

I love orchids too. Have about 14 phals that always rebloom. My oldest is 7 years old. My friends can't keep plants alive and wonder how I do it. Honestly, I water only when it's really necessary. Almost everyone I know overwaters their flowers, thinking "they will soak it up". They don't. They ROT 🙄 number 1 houseplant killer right there. Oh, and FUN FACT, did you know orchids can live to be 50 years old?! 💖👏
