It is a great one of a kind product for mastering guitar scales minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cooworker at very last got astronomical results with it.

Hey Rachelf. I've watched you from the very beginning. Girl you've come a long way fast. Nothing wrong with your technique. In fact that's the way I learned playing guitar, pieces at a time. The only difference is that I had no internet way back when, so it was lift the needle off the record and set it back down a few micrometers or stop tape, rewind, play, pause, play, etc,. Not caring about tempo/speed or mistakes. That's a given. You will need plenty of patience though. Patience and perseverance is key. Great instructional material for beginners. My way is kinda similar to yours, and for learning songs in general too! I tend to start at 30% tempo, just to learn the tabs, how they go, memorize them, getting the flow. When im confortable with the speed, i speed up the tempo of 10% and redo the whole thing. If i miss too much, im trying till i get it good, then i can get another 10% tempo up. I do this till the real tempo :)

I like Ibanez too. I have 4. One older Roadstar II, ok but heavy weighted and beat up. The others is one solid body, one semi hollow body (to get closer to BB King) and one bass. All Ibanez.. They're great guitars.

I've always struggled trying to learn solos from tabs honestly. Since you cant see the finger positions or anything. I finally nailed down my first somewhat fast solo (Hallowed Be Thy Name - Iron Maiden) with a combination of videos. I wanna do a cover of it eventually but would like to find someone to do Adrians parts (possible hint to anyone who wants to collab in the future) Another great video! I often learn songs with Rocksmith and the funny thing is, the approach resemble yours. I often use the riff repeater in Rocksmith (the tool that lets you repeat and slow down parts of the song). What I do is : start with fewer notes (maybe 50%) and less speed (depending of the song complexity). When I'm ok with that, I try to speed up gradually to 100%. When I get that part at 100% speed, I add a few % of notes to get closer to the 100% difficulty, and decrease the speed to make it easier. Then repeat and try to get back to 100% speed with that difficulty. Then again, add notes and train, etc. Repeat the process until you make it to 100% notes and 100% speed. At least that's my approach, I'm still quite a noob and rarely manage to play with all the notes, but I think it's a good way to improve my playing and knowledge of how to play a song.

I love that you emphasize to use whatever works best for the individual, and that using a combination of resources is good. I'm from the pre-internet generation, so I have learned by ear quite a bit, but I'm pretty much tab addicted, ha ha; especially for acoustic fingerpicking. It's also strange that I have never had any problem reading music for any other instrument, including bass guitar, but my brain just doesn't want to process it for six string. I have used sheet music in a pinch, though. Keep rocking! 👍✨

I do all of those things as well. My latest thing is really listening to the solo's instead of relying mostly on lessons or memory. I will find the song on KZbin and leave a comment like "Great solo at 5:35!" So I can easily go back to it. : )

I've got a similar process, though it might be weird that I don't usually like slowing down the tempo that much. Even if I can hear the notes easier, they don't sound as clear when they're being distorted in weird ways. Of course, with really crazy solos I have to slow it down to even understand it! Especially since though I like metal, I'm not really a metal player, so insane solos are really tough for me. Though I'm sure using these tips and others I pick up and recording more challenging stuff will help me improve. I tend to challenge myself a little more if I've got an audience, even if it's a tiny one!

Accuracy comes first, if you can play fast but everything is sloppy your solo will sound like shit. And speed will come with it the more times you play the piece you're practicing

I hate learning solos. I can bust out a solo on my own music, but learning someone else's is such a pain just because every guitarist has their own style and little techniques and oddly syncopated phrases that they throw in. It is really satisfying when you actually nail it, though.

There are two great apps out there TRANSCRIBE! and Anytune. Check them out you can slow down the song without changing the pitch and loop parts of the song.

There's never a "enough" in any matter of knowledge. More is more. Scales are just formulas, if you know pentatonoc, you know only one scale. Learn the formulas and more theory, which will make easier to you understand your instrument and how chords, intervals and scales works, and how to achieve the desire soumd you wish, improvise and etc.

I've only written a couple, but so far what I've done is create the backing track for the solo first and then improvise on loop over that track while recording. When I find something cool I'll clean it up and try to continue improvising building off of that part. Basically I just construct the solo piece by piece :). Definitely recommend the Ibanez! :)

I find learning by ear has been gradually improving for me over time and periodically I will just notice it has gotten a bit faster. Definitely something that is a long process though. I'm sure you will see improvement over time as well if it is part of your learning process, but it is totally ok to reference videos or tabs as well to help 🎸!

IVAN FUENTES for metal I would go for an Ibanez guitar, Gibson SG is good but you can get an affordable Ibanez that plays better preferably the Ibanez rg 370 ahm. If you want higher end guitar you should check out ESP guitars
