Hi @rainbowholicTV! I am also from Philippines who also lives in Japan. After watching this video, I become more motivated to study as well. I was not motivated at first because I feel like I am already to late to learn since I have working here for almost 3 years and people who are just here about a year has better nihongo skills than me. Anyway, I would also like to ask about your feedback for Kumon... like you I also need that push. But since Kumon style would make you start from that easiest until you mastered it, I also worry that the lesson pace might be too slow (I understand it says it depends on your learning ability but given the correspondence course only sends 2x a month, I worry that I need to wait for another set of worksheets just to move on because they cannot send more than twice a month, right? Even you finished it already) thanks a lot and more power! :)

if from Japan, you can buy it from any kinokuniya. if not, best luck is amazon japan or white rabbit website (if I'm not mistaken). the most helpful book set that actually helped me is the JLPT kanzen master. i realize that the so-matome lacked some important kanji / grammar points. you can try online websites too such as MLC Japanese for mock-up tests, diagrams, etc.. good luck!

I recommend Japanese from Zero for total beginners who know English! One of the co-authors has a video series for every chapter in the book series (book 4 and onward is a wip). There’s also a website, the first course (book) is free on there and it provides audio. It’s great for total beginners who want a slow but steady pace :3

Hi! I live in the Philippines and I just want to ask for some tips on beginning to study nihongo. I've memorized Hiragana and Katakana but I don't know what to do next. I can't really afford a lot of the grammar books that are usually recommended and I've only been studying on my own using free resources. I'd just like to ask which one is the best for a beginner so I can avoid spending too much...

Hi there. Many thanks for learning Japanese. Just one thing. Please do not to be toooo maniac. You might know that modern Japanese cultures are the deepest on this whole planet. Please get out from too much stuffs sometimes. And just think about your very basic life everyday in Japanese. Actually, it is pretty simple.
@rainbowholicTV

I’m sorry but I don’t understand what you mean. 😅 I like my simple life here, is it wrong? It’s rude to advise someone “do not be tooo maniac” when they’re not a “maniac” in the first place. If you live in another country, it is respectful / the minimum requirement to at least try and learn their language and it’s not “maniac”.
