It is pretty easy to understand, why is that? Is her Portuguese more nuetral? Does she speak like someone who is from Portugal because she's highly educated? (I've heard it's more formal than brazilian Portuguese) which is not good or bad but just something I've heard. Es bastante fácil de entender, ¿por qué es eso? ¿Es su portugués más nuetral? ¿Habla ella como alguien de Portugal porque tiene mucha educación? (He oído que es más formal que el portugués brasileño), lo que no es bueno ni malo, sino algo que he escuchado) O simplemente porque habla más despacio?

123 there’s no such a thing as Portugal speaker speaks differently because they are highly educated, it’s just a different accent. And it’s more clear to understand her because she speaks very slowly and with a very clear intonation.

It’s great that your not interested in talking English with an American accent. I do have to say though, you do not have a strong Brazilian accent at all when you speak English. I am from London and have many Brazilian friends, some of which speak English with a very strong accent. I speak Brazilian Portuguese as a second language and I also am not interested in speaking Portuguese with a perfect Brazilian accent, I’m more interested in being perfectly understood, that’s more than enough for me :) Thank you for your inspiring video. Estoniana é minha língua materna. Minha segunda língua é russo. Estonia foi aproximadamente cinquenta anos parte da Rússia do que eu aprendi russo da primeira aula na escola. Eu aprendi inglês na escola tambem mas não tanto quanto russo. Eu visitei Rio de janeiro e cachoeira iguazu quatro anos atrás. Eu me apaixonei por o Brasil. Pessoas, natureza, comida, música todo é ótimo. Português soa bom. Agora eu tento aprender português. Português é minha paixão hoje. Eu usei vídeos diferentes para aprender português. I’m so glad I found your channel! I love how you emphasize that NOBODY cares about your accent, and that the goal is for successful communication. One of my favorite things to say to people who make fun of a non-native person’s accent or mispronunciations is to ask them if they can speak anything other than their non-native tongue. Typically the answer is no ;) Anyway I studied Spanish in high school and college, and I have been slowly teaching myself French. I have always been drawn to learn Portuguese so your channel is the jackpot for me. ❤️

Sou Venezuelano, e minha primera língua é espanhol. Português do Brasil não vejo ela como "segunda língua" mas como língua do coração porque consigue me emocionar lembrando o tempo (um ano) que more em São Paulo, Brasil. Italiano é minha terceira língua e eu aprendí ela no jeito que você indica, simplesmente me divertindo sem stress, só com a vontade de conhecer novas coisas. O francês é minha quarta língua e aprendí ela morando em Kinshasa, mas estando lá foi muito difícil, morando longe eu conseguí falar e entender melhor. Agora quero aprender inglês, o árabe e o coreano. Obrigado pelas dicas! Gostei muito do video!

I'm very much a perfectionist and feel like I'm always trying to sound perfect whenever I learn new languages, so I really liked hearing your mindset on the subject. Recently I've been really focused on gaining confidence and practicing more so I've been telling my Brazilian friends to only message me in Portuguese, and I already feel like by messaging them I'm improving a lot!! Obrigado Virginia! Você é um professor muito claro. Nasci na Holanda, naturalmente falo holandês e recebi aulas de inglês, francês e alemão na escola. Depois da universidade, trabalhei no Quênia por três anos e era capaz de falar um pouco Kiswahili, o suficiente para falar de maneira social. Mais tarde na vida, trabalhei por quatro anos na Indonésia, ainda posso falar Bahasa Indonésia em um nível social. Tenho duas netas com mãe brasileira. As duas netas falam português com ela, holandês com o pai (e eu e na escola) e inglês com a vovó, minha esposa. Agora tento aprender português, mas com você a Holanda é um país onde quase ninguém fala português e eu tenho mais de setenta anos, então vai demorar muitos anos. :) Talvez, depois da pandemia, possamos viajar para o Brasil e eu poder falar um pouco de português.

Ton français est parfait ! J'ai bien aimé ton accent. :) Eu falo as mesmas línguas que você. Somente eu estou mais seguro em meu espahnol que em português o que me ajouda muito em aprendizagem de português. Eu encotro as mesmas dificuldades que você. O outro problema é que minha língua materna é uma língua eslava e não tenha nenhuma similaridade com português ou espanhol... infelizmente. Eu falo tambêm alemã mas tenho un nívelo baixo (A2 talvez). A próxima língua que eu gostaria de estudar e o ruso porque e uma língua eslava e poderia comprender-a melhor graças o vocábulario similar com minha língua materna. Parabéns pelas línguas que você fala! :)

Também estudo Espanhol, Francês e o Inglês o seu canal tem me ajudado muito, pois parto do princípio de que se eu conheço bem o meu idioma materno qualquer outra língua fica fácil aprender tanto na escrita quanto na fonetica. I'm from Puerto Rico and my native language is Spanish. I'm fully bilingual in English as I learned English when I was a child. I studied 3 years of Italian and found it very easy to learn. I studied one year of French and can handle simple conversations. I want to learn Portuguese! Your pronunciation is very clear and easy to understand.

My main obstacle with portuguese is that i'd rather be learning french, so it leaves me passionless about portuguese. French is the most beautiful language in the world. It is a shame i stopped speaking it and have lost it since i started practicing portuguese

I'm just like you Virginia. I fluently speak English as my 2nd language and I have been learning French, Portuguese and Spanish for a few years now. I'm a fan of Brazil and Portugal. Now I know that even native speakers confuse Portuguese with Spanish, so I'm not the only one who can't help but speak Portuñol. 😂 And I'm also a vegetarian. I’ve been trying to learn Portuguese for a few days now, and I love how easy you make Brazilian Portuguese to understand and learn! I also love your colab video with Mia from Portugal. What you experienced while learning Spanish, I also noticed when I was learning Italian. At some point the line between both languages seemed to disappear at times. It was still a lot of fun! podrá ser fácil, pero cuando uno se anima a hablar es común tropezar por miedo a hablar portuñol. Además de las vergüenzas que uno pasa al hablar portugués, uno se confunde y dice una palabra que no iba ahí, y casi siempre tiene una connotación sexual JAJAJAAJ.

Oi Virgínia. Você é maravilhosa e fala essas outras línguas muito bem! Eu sou americano, mas dá uma família Porto-riquenho com muitos parentes e amigos na ilha. Por isso, falo espanhol, mas como sempre morei nos EU, minha língua principal e da minha formação é inglês (eu sou professor de física numa universidade). Eu estudei francês quando eu foi um aluno na universidade, e entendi sem problema tudo o que você disse nessa língua. Mas como não passei muito tempo na França, é difícil pra mim falar, como você estava explicando. Também falo um pouco de russo, mas falo melhor nas outras línguas. Eu estou de acordo com todo que você disse de falar em outras línguas (em particular sobre portanhol, que falo muito bem depois de umas caipirinhas). Quando comecei aprender falar português (usando o site Babel), foi um pouco difícil. Mas como eu vou ao Brasil com frequência, com prática melhorei. Agora até estou dando minhas palestras em português porque (como você sabe) falar inglês não é muito comun no Brasil. Nunca tive vergonha porque entendi que começando qualquer coisa, ao início somos no nível 0. Só podermos melhorar! Achei seu canal de KZbin e gosto muito. Você tem um jeito aberto e agradável, e os vídeos são muito informativos e me ajudam melhorar e clarificar várias coisas sobre o português brasileiro. Yo se frances como lingua materna, soy totalmente bilingue en español ya que vivo en Bolivia. Era muy bueno en Ingles cuando era joven, lastimosamente se me ha perdido un poco ya que llevo una decada sin hablar ni practicar y tambien puedo leer y entender el portugues, pero no hablar o escribir todavia. En fin entiendo perfectamente esas 4 idiomas al momento de escuchar o leer, mas bien me sorprendi en este video cuando cambias de idioma mi celebro ni se dio cuenta jaja

Thank you for the inspiration and recommendations! My native language is English. Like you, my second language is French. My goal is to speak all the romance languages (well, not ALL - I doubt I'll ever study Catalan, Occitan or Sicilian) at an intermediate level. I speak Spanish well enough that I didn't need the subtitles for this video. (But that owes much to your slow, careful pronunciation.) And I'm currently studying both Italian and Romanian. I'd love to see you produce more content in any of these languages. (You said you wanted to learn Italian!) I think it would be really valuable to watch someone who is very experienced in learning and teaching languages go through the process of learning a new one. I'm not forgetting Portuguese. Once I feel confident that I have the basics of Italian and Romanian down, Portuguese is my next tongue. And I anticipate coming to your channel often at that point. Thanks again

This was certainly inspirational. My father is dutch and my mother is from a small country in south America called Guyana. My country is the only country in south America where English is the official language, so I have taken it upon myself to learn both Spanish and Portuguese at the same time. The thing you said about Spanish and Portuguese being similar but speaking it is completely different, is so true. I've learned to speak a decent amount of Spanish over 8 months but is afraid to open my mouth to say something in Portuguese.
