Imma be honest. It sounds so normal when a person learns Korean sincerely even if it started with just Kpop or KDrama. But it's really annoyingly distinguishable when a Koreaboo speaks or tries to speak Korean. We need more people like you. Keep up the good work~

I have always had a love of languages. As well as learning about other cultures. I have been having my son find short samples of different languages on KZbin, to help him test each language out. And then decide which language he wants to learn with me. He seems to be pretty set on wanting to learn Japanese. But I ended up finding korean kdramas on Netflix. And the fact that I have a surplus of videos with the native language being spoken. I ended up leaning more towards wanting to learn Korean. I watch the Chinese films and Japanese anime as well. But to be honest. I can hear the difference in how the words are formed. And I kind of feel like Korean might be easier for me, personally, to speak and learn. Once I learn Korean. I would love to move on to another language. I have somewhat learned other languages in the past. But I am only fluent in English. I took a German class, as well as Irish, Spanish, Arabic (I failed miserably at that one! Lol), I have had samples of Portuguese, and French. And I have an interest in learning Russian, any of the Nordic languages. So, keep the faith, there are definitely more of us out here who genuinely love the language culture. Lol ✌🏻

I'm 28 (ancient) and want to learn Korean. I went to South Korea last year and it was an amazing experience. I'm studying international freight & logistics & supply chain one night a week sposored by my work. I think knowing another language would be hugely benificial for the career path I'm headed down. Also my at current job (importing tiles) we have a lot of Korean customers so it would be helpful for me to be able to communicate with them. I'd also like to learn mandarin and japanese but one language at a time 😂 for all the teens with parents thinking it's just a phase so what? Learning something new isn't going to hurt.

for me, it's always been hard to find goals while learning korean. i'm young so i'm not going to be able to travel to korean for a LONG time. (if i ever do) whcih is why I couldn't have the goal of "move to korea to talk to natives." or something like that. So my goal became, "Be able to film a vlog and narrate what i'm doing in korean." and "Film a video as if i was talking to my best friend on a call, but i korean." so these goals keep me motivated to learn!

This was really helpful to bring some kind of structure to my korean language learning. I don't know about most people but for me I pick on speaking faster than reading and writing. In many ways korean's grammar structure is similar to Hindi and for me once you understand the "logic" of the language the rules of it start to make sense. I would say that listening to Kpop and watching K-Dramas can help with seeing the tonality, delivery and kind of cultural use of words. I would suggest in fact that when watching or listening, note repetitve words down. My vocabulary increased by writing down my favourite songs in Korean and then analysing the sentence structure. Granted this is a little off beat but it's a good way to familiarise yourself with the script.

Thank you~! Honestly, just keep pushing forward! When I first started learning Korean, I thought it was the hardest language I had ever tried to learn and that I wasn't getting anywhere. But, I just kept chipping away, and now it's funny to think that there was a time when I couldn't speak Korean! You can do it! Like Dora says, "Just keep swimming~ Just keep swimming~ Just swimming, swimming, swimming~! What do we do? We swim, swim~" Another tip I would give you would be to change up the way you study/ what you use to study every once in awhile! I don't know about you, but I get bored doing the same thing every time I study Korean~ That's why I've never made a "How I Study Korean" video~ If I were to make one, it would probably be like "How I Study Korean: Wednesday, January 10th," "How I Study Korean: Thursday, January 11th," etc. LOL You don't have to spend money to change up your resources either! Along with goals I recommend listing topics you want to study too. Eg, time, day of the week, food, etc. If you learn a word for example apple, orange etc. your more likely to remember it as its both apple and orange are related to each other because they are food and more specifically fruit. If you learnt "Apple" and "train" and more random words, you're less likely to remember them since they have no relation to each other.

What helps me to type Korean is to remember where the keys are placed on my keyboard and have a Korean keyboard set. For an example, sprinkles would be 네갸ㅜㅏㅣㄷㄴ

Another great book is "Korean grammar in Use" even though it's a grammar book I haven't even noticed that I've enlarged my vocabulary a lot with its help! Also it compares different grammar rules that look a bit similar and may be confusing. Like which one you should use it what situations. I mainly studied with TTMIK but I feel like this book gave better explanations in many cases.

Since I'm the type of person who loses focus after a certain amount of time, I think I'm gonna have to get a tutor so I won't slack for months at a time lol. Started learning a year ago. I bought talk to me in korean books. It was 4 books. Unfortunately the talk to me in korean didn't really resonated with me. It was all over the place for me. Was not organized, so I had difficulties. But I like their 500words and conversation for beginner. So I got stuck for a year but when I found the korean grammar in use!!! It changes the game! The book is amazing! I bought the book few months ago but was scared to go with it because of my experiences with ttmik but I kid you not. I started in december got in depth in January and now will be finishing it in February!!! Learned a lot of grammar structures. The book is addicting. I study more than 5hrs a day because of this. To those of you who are learning a language. Find the best books/materials that suits you. When you already have one but that does not pick your interest maybe you have the wrong materials.

Hi Natalie! I just came across your video. I’m using TTMIK books currently and I just heard about Integrated Korean books. Does Integrated Korean only teach things that are useful for students? I will be visiting Korea in about a year and I want to be comfortable with speaking (close to fluent if possible) and listening by the time I go. Any advice on where I should start. I’m currently using TTMIK Level 1 book with the workbook. Also with the Integrated Korean books, how do you find out if your answers are correct if there’s no answer key? Thanks so much for making this video! 💜

I've gotten to the point where its no longer free, and would love a second opinion. I'm still in early Highschool, and I'm finishing my SprachDiploms for German, which is where I plan on going for college. That being said, I have a lot of time to learn Korean. Still, I'm going at a pretty fast pace: I learned Hangeul in about a week, and I'm learning a few basic verbs and words, along with some easy grammar laws and stuff.
