I solved this by completely ignoring the dollar amount, the PnL all together, and zero'd my focus on following my plan as defined by my system. Then I purposefully triggered my internal reward system based on how well I followed the plan, regardless how much money was made or loss. That just worked out better for me and it didn't take years. The key is finding the method that works with who you are.

The mature trader will trade the trade, not the P/L....so true. Easier said than done. It takes time and experience in order to be able to disconnect from P/L. The 2 most difficult aspects of trading: identifying your best edge/chart analysis....once that is accomplished, the next most difficult aspect is holding the trade until its maturity. 😎

im practicing using your trend line techniques (which have already made my decision making 100x better for my entries so thank you!) and trying to enter a really good trade and see if i am able to ride my trend lines to the 0.618 fib level, i always run backtests on trades i wish i would have seen/taken with the fib and more times than not they hit the 0.618, Hopefully by the end of the year i might be able to make 5 of them happen! (currently in a position that i made 50% on during the down trend then it came back to my stop level that i was adjusting down slowly with the position and i have re-entered after a small retracement and hoping to now hold to my target 0.618 level. Thank you for all your videos and information it has helped me so much with just reminding myself to just be patient and wait for 1 more candle close to get that confirmation i need to be happy with my entry :)

I solved this problem for myself. I enter the trade when the price is at the support/resistance with only 30% of my planned amount for that trade. I add 30% when there is a confirmation on the indicators for the swing. I add the rest of the 40% when the confirmation candle comes up and then I ride the swing. Once 80% of the target is achieved I exit 50%. Then I wait for 100% of the target for the next 30% exit and then I keep 20% to ride as long as it goes with a trailing SL.

Decrease position size to increase risk capacity. Commodity futures are mean reverting. Smaller positions and longer holding periods.

My 2 biggest hurdles have been including some helpful EA's: one that call take a profit at a $ amount which is so helpful when I'm in a bad trade and just want to get out. The other is to focus on a trade size of 1-2%. When the trade goes against me I can scale in a recovery trade, or even a series of trades to get into profit, use the EA and move on. The days of the 10%+ trade size is over. Great video, thanks!

To mitigate risk, you could move your stop loss to breakeven once you are in good profit. You could also use a trailing stop.

One thing seem to working for me is that when my target amount is reached, I take like 50 to 70% off the table and let the other ride. By this I have made my profits and even if it goes another direction, my SL will kick in and would still be in profits. Still learning.

I kept reminding myself that I bought NVDA two weeks ago at $101.40 as I got in at optimum entry at the beginning of key reversal and self debated whether to day trade or take profits with a shorter swing. Ultimately, I was pushed out by market manipulation, which made me anxious. As a result, I only made $10k in one day, instead of the potential $50k I would have earned if I had held for just two more days, making it a five-day duration. I hate the retracement when I was up a lot very fast. It played with my emotion and psyche as a day trader to take profit. It is not easy, believe me. There are times I was slow to take profit and ended up given back much more.

I strategy hopped for years. I am the master strategy hopper. I programmed hundreds of strategies...I jumped all over the place. I tried everything the human mind can possibly come up with. I even went back sometimes and ran some old strats and would have made a TON of money like they were so profitable but I think I have ADHD or something it's so difficult for me to stop jumping to new strats, or modifying the current one. I'm trying to fight it though.

Been a Minute Tori, Since I commented on one of your posts, It's striking that balance between holding for that little longer and holding for to long, I feel that people cut there trades short because let's say there going short and see the price going back up, they think that it has reversed on them when in realty it's only a pullback then when there out, they see that it went down even more but still don't realize that it was just a pullback as they got scared out of that trade, Oh and you just got to do more Live's Girl. 🙂

I would like a statistical investigation on holding trades overnight vs closing them sometime in the day and reopening them sometime after the market reopens... It might just be that holding overnight is best or not depending on what you are trading especially. Gold doesn't reopen far away, but for stocks and natural gas, it opens 3,4, 7% away no problem.

My issue is altho I keep getting great entries (or within 3 or 4 ticks of the best entry) my nervous system becomes over-stimulated and I move my stop to break even too early and then price comes back to retest the demand area, takes me out for break even and then takes off without me in the trade.

Where I get in trouble is after price leaves support & goes 10 ticks in my direction, I move my stop to break even & then price comes back to support a 2nd time & takes me out. What I need to do is to always assume there will be a 2nd retest of support where I got in, & until then keep my stop at the place where if it get hit, it means entry was wrong.. It's a psychological game. If I do one of Tori's break of trend trades, in that case I usually wait for the bar to retrace some after it breaks the trend.

Dont move you SL right away to breakeven..let the market play into your direction for a little bit long . For sure, even you have the best entry, your stop loss will be hit almost, so wait for that, until it has been retested and once it moves in your direction, move your SL where your confident at. Remember a good trade is a hard trade.

It's been dumping and pumping in this range for ages! It's technically just going sideways, sideways means generally stagnant.
