My father was an alcoholic and I lived through that as a child. I could not bring friends home or have him turn up at my school. It has scarred me for life and at 74 I still have to deal with it. He never showed me any type of empathy in the 16 years I knew him as he died from alcohol poisoning in 1964. Alcohol has never touched my lips and I thank God everyday for the life I now live with my wife of 54 years and our two beautiful sons.

So true about not taking the first drink (or other addictive substance). I believe the saying is: “One is too many and 10 isn’t enough.”

I know that spiritual high...until I found out my husband is also a sex addict. An entirely new ballgame. 😢
