So I'm william and i live in Brazil I'm 21 years old and I've been learning English since 2016 and I can tell that I can understand everything in English I'm always facing new vocabs I had read a bunch of books in English but my weakness is speaking due to the fact that I have nobody to practice my abilities to speak but even this I always try to do something about it, I tried to speak in front of the mirror, with my kittens but the thing that enhance my speech was recording my voice in English I did this for 640 days for 10 minutes it's was fun, easy and hard the same time, and after all this I have the gut to recording a video in English then I upload on the KZbin and now it's my hobbie and I hope I can go to the US to speak in English there, and I met a lot of people online I use my English to comunicate with them, I'm always learning new thing. It's so fun making videos in English, in the beginning I was shy but I had to wait a little more to get used to speak naturally, you just have to put in mind that you can do it because it turns out that it's so true!!!

The pet one is good! I read children's English books to our dog when I was in high school. And recently my 14 year old has been speaking German to his dog all of the time to practice, because he wants to pass the test to go to school in Germany soon. Last night he asked the dog if she was thirsty. Then he described to her what he was doing in German, "Grabbing your bowl. Turn on the faucet. Filter the water. Give you fresh water. Do you want water? Do you like water?" 😅😊 My daughter does this all day in Spanish too since she is going to Spain.

I don't have many people around me who speak good English. What I do is I practise by talking to my own self either when I'm alone like no ones around me or I go to my roof and since there's no one there who can actually hear me I just speak as much as I want. I'm afraid at this rate I might start looking crazy to other people. But recording myself is a big no no for me as I'm really conscious of my voice and hate my sound in my own language. I just speak to myself.

What you say makes huge sense. People are born to communicate with others (our big brain is developed to that). BUT. It is also prepared to replace everything and everyone with litterally everything (even like stone). This is a psychology thing. Now to my key point. I have a turtle (red-eared slider). He lives alone in aquaruim (unlike in nature) and he has lots of stones there. And what he does very often is same thing, playing with stones as if they are other turtles! So, this is biological, ancient, easily provable ability to spiritually relate to anything in this universe! And practice your skills, in particular.
@bhutchin1996 Жыл бұрын
Grammar in bite-sized chunks when you need it, that's my approach. I look at learning languages like learning how to play musical instruments. Depending on the instrument, sure, one could learn how to play chords and scales until the cows come home, but it's much better to learn how to play an actual piece of music or a melody and then figure out how it works, the underlying theory. Shadowing is a technique that was "created" by Alexander Arguelles. He's got some good stuff on his channel. You speak English very well! Of course, I can tell that you're not a native speaker - acquiring a native accent is a skill on its own and not easy to do - but you speak very clearly and I can understand everything you're saying, so my hat off to you for learning a language that is hardly phonetic at all.

i'm surprised that nobody mentioned chatgpt3(for voice you can use google translate). could be an awesome option about that and i'm also using it for understanding hard concepts. you can even ask for roleplay to being a tutor for you. of course it's still not a rival for a real tutor but still it's a good option to have.
@jedinga Жыл бұрын
@@bingo964 i beleive you missunderstood. you can speak with chatgpt and you can ask it to act like a tutor or any role you want. during chatting you can paste given answers to google translate and google translate can read the texts. it's all excercise but ofc a good one.

I have another problem guys. I was trying to speak with myself using topics which could be interesting to me (for example, i was trying to express my opinion about exact character from my favourite show, his/her goals, deep motivations, and another topics about people' features) but I can't even figure out what i have to say. There's no ideas. No opinion. I've found out I can't speak my native language about any difficult topics either. But when it comes to easy routine topics (my daily plan, for instance) the problem is the same. I just don't remember any actions of mine. And I have no idea what i can do later. Probably i'm just dumb or something like that. This issue influenced me to quit my speaking with myself. Not to mention there's no point to speak with native speakers. At the moment i come up with not only topics but also my certain opinion about this and each arguments. It seems like madness i know but i don't have any choice. I think the problem is my sickness (I was depressed and have taken drugs so my cognitive functions is lower then average). But it's just my supposition. If anybody know the reason of mine please answer me. Sorry for my spelling. I can make many mistakes but good part of it is i may write and if anywhere my message has no sense i feel i managed to express my meaning here. I dont know why but my dullness works only if i speak not when i write
