Sam there are editors on youtube who are saying that it takes at least 6 months to be a good editor and then start making some money out of it. Especially for people in college they can only give 4 to 5 hours if the managed their time very well. I have been into editing since one month and still don't have a lot of projects and know about how to do many things. I have not opened after effects until now. The 2 major problems i think here are not knowing what to put where in a video ( mindset of an editor) and second one is getting good at it consistently. U and many people selling their editing courses say things that are too good to be true. I am not being rude u inspire me but it sounds fake. If it would be so simple to learn editing in a month then wouldn't be everyone a money making editor. Guide me how can i make money before 2024 gets over. I am so done with college and want to make a good career

I only ever say these shorter time frames when I give specific examples, myself and some of my students have achieved a good level of editing in a crazy short amount of time, I share those roadmaps so you can take the winning roadmap and take it at your own pace... Everyone's different so everyone's timeframe is different too. All I do is give away free information worth tons of money. Nothing unrealistic here, because I tell you my story and my student's stories, so that's real - just different timeframes. The whole point of myKZbin channel is that I share my experience and my students' experiences, rather than pluck a timeframe out of thin air like 6 months which is way too long.

@@sampdbiz so according to you if someone can start replicating edits they will learn editing way faster. Then build a portfolio using those which can help them to land clients. Truly appreciate your honesty
@sampdbizАй бұрын
Yep that's right, that's a great path to follow. When I first started, I was working on editing fulltime and had a strong background in marketing and graphic design to help me out. Others have more experience so it doesn't take as long, ofhers don't have that so it takes longer. Don't be discouraged by timeframes!

I want to work from my home; because of my rural location. I downloaded premiere pro, with the 7 day free trial. I will take all your advice to heart and hopefully soon I get some money to buy your course! But till then I’ll practice and watch the rest of your videos and tips. Thank you for pointing me in a direction in life ❤

Glad to hear, thank you! Look for unedited videos and then I use KZbinPi.com or add the letters "pi" after "KZbin" in the video's URL.

Hey Sam, I hope you're doing well. I've been learning video editing for a month now and have made decent progress, creating average videos. However, I'm facing a dilemma. Should I start reaching out to clients now or wait another two months to improve my skills? My motivation is dwindling, and I'm worried that without client projects, my work won't be showcased. Wouldn't it be better to work for a client, even for free, to gain experience.
@sampdbiz28 күн бұрын
Do whatever feels right, ultimately no matter which option you take, you're only going to find good clients when you're a good editor, and both paths will get you there. By doing sample video outreach, you're going to either get hired or get better!

@@sampdbiz Hello, how long on average do you work on editing videos per week? 40h or more? Your journey seems to be very laborious

It can be 2 hours a week or 100, I'm luckily in that now I edit for ownership, I build my own personal brands, so whatever hours I feel like really. I've just got back from travelling and relaxing for the last 6 months lol

You can find 30s-1min worth of raw footage for almost any creator. Could be a podcast for example, or maybe they don't edit their videos too much (like Hamza, sam sulek, charlie morgan, sam ovens - there's tons of creators) or maybe have older videos you could use.
