Sure, there's a bunch of info you can find on your own, but it'll take months longer than if you just buy the class. He's also very responsive to instant messages. Definitely recommend if you're trying to get started with a video editing business.

There are two types of editors in the world: those who see the market/circumstances as either for or against them and those who will always find opportunity (and lots of it!) by sharpening their skills in service to real problems clients face in a versatile and lucrative industry!

What I see common nowadays is that an editor directly jumps to freelancing, without learning editing first. The main priority should be given to 'master the skills'. Then using the skills, service should be provided. Once the service is quite good and valuable, an offer should be built around it and clients should be acquired. Without first building the skills, business will surely fail. Its like "finding passenger without learning driving first!"

I only started looking for editing work late last year and have already found some success which I'm pretty happy with. I feel like the editing market can't be too overly saturated with the opportunities I've had. I'm always looking for opportunities to better myself at video editing and marketing myself in general. I don't know if this will help other editors but it's worth looking into possible local resources that may be available. - For example, I know that where I live there's business and marketing courses as well as organisations that can help with providing business and financial advice. I've found them to be very helpful.

As there are a lot of people competing even for the larger clients, I dont think it is oversaturated if we do not limit ourselves to only video editing. I believe if we add more to our abilities beyond the video editing, we can enhance peoples channels even more. A lot of the people struggle with more than just editing, like reaching out to brands, making community posts, replying to comments etc... etc... So going beyond the edit and and adding in a few other things can really separate us from competition.

There's a big gap waiting to be filled by value on the market. Like you said maybe there's lots of editors right there offering their services, and every one of them seeing this starting lowers the price of his services instead of increasing the value they can provide. In these times it's essential to learn other skills with which you can add value to reach that small percentage of editors who take the big piece of the cake.

*Thoughts on the video: It's a well-done video that addresses the saturation in the video editing market by separating it into low-skill and low-quality editors and then high-skill and high-quality editors. In turn, it shows that while the bottom of the market may be crowded, there is plenty of opportunity for those talented editors who can differentiate themselves with vastly superior skills, presentation, communication, and an offer nobody can refuse *My thoughts on the future of video editing : It's a competitive field, video editing, but with great prospects for differentiation through quality performance, a unique value proposition, and good marketing you'll be fine. Afterward, the editor can do well within the industry by specializing in niches, building strong client relationships, and always looking to improve. * With that being said , it is saturated but by being the best at your craft the saturated market will not affect you at all . Have a well thought out plan for every aspect of what you need to do in your journey to get there and execute .Polish your plan as you go through your journey. Great mentorship can help you cover all of those aspects as well. Great Video and great points .

Can you get a gig just as a video editor? Sure, but you're just a commodity. Everyone, literally, everyone - has access to free resources, tutorials, and prospects. So instead of only offering video editing, I believe a game changer is to move towards the higher tier of roles, and become a strategist or copywriter (who can edit engaging & emotional videos) Businesses not only need video edits, but they need ideas, scripts, and someone who can read the analytics. You can make $3k-$4k as a sole video editor, or you can make $5k-$8k+ as a growth strategist who's so valuable it'll be unusual and odd for them to not want to work with you. But you're right, you need to aim for the right clients and there's a ton of successful content creators who can hire you. 29,000 creators with 1M subs? That's insane!
@sampdbiz3 ай бұрын
For sure, the great thing about video editing is it's a high-value skill, so just like you said - you can combine it with copywriting, strategy etc to be capable enough to solve almost any issues these creators run into. And I agree, I was surprised at 29,000 creators with 1M+ subscribers too, it's crazy.

Not having the right equipment can be a massive roadblock, I've been there. But your options are to either struggle through mobile phone editing on CapCut, or to save up enough from earning money OUTSIDE of video editing to buy a capable laptop. Hope this helps, keep at it!
