This time I'm showing you how I left and came back to Japan. Traveling during Covid-19.
*I'm aware that there are non-Japanese people who cannot come back to Japan because of Covid right now. I was just lucky to be able to travel to see someone I really care, but I hope all the Japanese citizens can come home regardless of their nationalities.

This made me cry. I had to leave Japan about a week ago due to a death in the family, and now I can't come back. Sitting here with my punctured citizen card really missing all my friends and my apartment in Japan. I really hope I can come back soon.

Amazing how they can just do a test in Japan and have the results so quickly. Meanwhile in Canada, it takes days to get a result back from the hospital (which you have to go through a whole process through the city to book an appointment)

It doesn't sound smooth. But I guess your test is more reliable? Cuz saliva test is not as reliable that's why we have to do 2 weeks quarantine.

@@AsagisLifeNoBSJapan We now have what they call "rapid tests" and its a pin prick to the finger and they test your blood. It takes 15 minutes for results. I live in hawaii and on oct 15 they opened up to mainland usa tourists again and they will be using this test. passengers will be required to get it 72 hours or less before flying and there will be NO 14 day quarrantine. I've seen accuracy number of 75%-80% detection rate on the rapid antigen test but i'm sure others will dispute that. Its kind of shocking to me that we are not seeing japan tourists first. Perhaps people there aren't yet interested in travelling or its a govt to govt delay. The PCR (cotton swab to nose and throat) is said to have a %30 false negative rate so its just a little bit less accurate than the rapid test

Good advice to hold off on any travel right now, especially with winter coming ( and a possible surge in COVID cases). We're all hoping for better times in the spring, and a slow return to normal, although there are no guarantees..

Thanks for the interesting insight into your travels Asagi. Really interesting given most of us aren’t daring enough to travel. So I’m curious how you felt about travel to the US given how rampant covid is here and how little we are doing about it, especially as compared to Japan. Were you worried at all coming here and traveling within the US with Derek?

Hmm. In some aspects US is more strict but in other aspects they are less cautious about Covid. Can't compare easily.

I had visited Japan at the start of this year right before all the Covid-19 stuff starting getting more noticeable around the world. When I had returned home to New Zealand it was only like 1-2 months before NZ went into lockdown, so if my timing of my trip was slightly different it could have affected me coming home to NZ.

If they make tourists quarantine for 2 weeks then no one will be able to come. Hopefully they streamline it before my trip in the end of March. I saw they might not open tourism until April though.
@Big-Wonka
@Big-Wonka 3 жыл бұрын
@Redice1202 Yeah, I read the same thing. I won't be able to quarantine for 2 weeks before my trip, but that's ideal. But I'll definitely do everything possible to not be around anyone lol. I don't really care if I have to check in on an app while I'm there. It's a slight inconvenience for another great trip to Japan. I bought my ticket back in April or May because it was so damn cheap. I never thought it would still be a problem by the time my trip came. Worst case scenario is I reach out to the Airbnb hosts and see if I can push the dates back. American airlines isn't charging anyone to cancel and reschedule, but the downside is they don't give you an equal trade. It's just a credit and you pay the difference when the time comes. So my cheap ticket might end up being normal price. Either way, I'll do whatever I have to do.

Hope we can travel easily soon. BTW you'd fit in really well at hive.blog (and 3speak.online which is the interconnected video streaming site).
