Dude you saved us from having to go to a warming station during the 2021 Texas snowpocalypse! Thanks a ton!
@patrickjohnson62953 жыл бұрын
We in Minnesota are used to the cold and our houses and everything we have is ready. I sure hope you Texans come out of this ok! Although it is very cold here, it is very unusual for people to die from the cold. We are just coming out of 10 or so days of below zero F day and night. Good luck staying warm!

Great Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you researched - Proutklarton Incredible Match Plan (google it)? It is a smashing one of a kind guide for getting an understanding of how to survive in a disaster and make your own survival food minus the normal expense. Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin at last got astronomical success with it.

Genius! Saves me about 20 minutes. I was using twiggs, shaved log kindling & newspaper for fire start up. What a hassle ! Now it's a small cup of oil. Thank you

Thanks Tasha! I light a fire just about every evening in my fireplace with a couple ounces of used cooking oil during the winter and fall. My friend brings me a couple gallons from his summer fish cooking each fall. Can you imagine the pile of kindling I have saved along with the headaches! So simple and uses something that would likely just go to waste anyway! By the way this works great when camping too.

We have had about a foot of snow the last few days. Now we will go into the deep freeze of more than -20 Fahrenheit in the mornings too. Being able to light up a cozy fire helps us fight off the winter blues and this is the easiest way I know. Thanks!

I just did this oil in a cup method for my beach bonfire 🔥 at Huntington beach. But I used a larger paper cup about 12 oz but filled it up 10 oz of used canola lumpia oil and it worked awesome. It lit my wood on fire in about 3 minutes and had a full blaze in 7 minutes. Thanks for the tip now I don’t have to spray lighter fluid on my wood.
@patrickjohnson62953 жыл бұрын
Yes this works for camping too. So easy, even if everything is a little damp, it will almost always get your bundle of wood going! Thanks!
@blakeshow60573 жыл бұрын
Good to know it will still work on damp wood. Going to share this tip with all my friends and fam. This blew my mind how fast and easy it lit my firewood. Before took me 15-20 minutes to start a 🔥 of using newspaper and lighter fluid.Now only 2-3 minutes. This is genius🤓

Hi Emily, Thanks for your comment. We live in Minnesota and we light off a fire in the fireplace almost every evening. Starting tomorrow we will go into the deep freeze and the temperature outside will go to below 0 F during the day and about -20 F. or so at night for about a week. Lighting a fire helps us deal with the long cold winter and makes the house seem very cozy. I hope everyone is able to enjoy a nice wood fire with this idea. it really is simple!

this is the easiest way to light it up! But is this oil not bad for the stove in the long run?
@patrickjohnson6295 Жыл бұрын
I have personally been using this in my metal fireplace for about 14 years and haven't noticed any kind of damage yet. It is just used cooking oil and as far as I know it isn't corrosive, toxic, or explosive. This video has been out there for about 5 years and so far no one has mentioned any issues.

@patrickjohnson62952 жыл бұрын
After using this process for 12 years in my fireplace and cleaning the chimney every year before winter, I haven't noticed any. Actually, there is almost no buildup of anything because I use firewood aged at least a year or more.
