Right! Congrats on the weight loss! Sometimes a darkened / unusually discolored neck, upper chest, and cheeks are signs of diabetes or pre-diabetes due to obesity. @Vexarax3 жыл бұрын
@@priyankabaraily495 - Hi there! My friend has the same issue but we found we can wipe the dark stuff away with a mix of coconut oil and Weleda calendula cream (the kind for baby butts, it's called Nappy Change Cream). We mix a little bit together and put it on a cotton bad, then rub the pad on the dark parts and the dark stuff comes off onto the pad!!! Nothing else we tried worked very well (including soap and hot water which was the first thing we tried! We also tried makeup remover and baking soda and even olive oil). But this mix we use wipes the dark stuff away quite effectively!! So maybe you can try that if you can get the ingredients (I buy them online). Though getting healthier is also important of course but in the mean-time it's good to have a simple solution to wipe it away!! It does come back so we use the wipe-method about once a week :)

@@priyankabaraily495 that's okay I hope you find something that works for you!! Something else we tried that worked (just not as well and took longer) was mixing baking soda and olive oil together into a paste, in a little cup or bowl. Then we used cotton pads (just makeup ones, nothing fancy) to wipe the mixture onto the dark patches. It took a bit of scrubbing but it came off and the pads got quite dark!! Something else that also worked (but again, took longer and wasn't as effective) was warm water with a bit of apple cider vinegar in, rubbed on with the makeup wipes. The best mixture was the coconut oil and calendula cream though it wipes the dark stuff off really easily and the makeup pads go very dark. We just kept rubbing until her skin looked normal again!! It got a bit tender but was worth it to not have the dark stuff ^_^

Thanks so much for sharing! My neck is one of my biggest insecurities because of the discoloration, sometimes I feel like I’m wearing a mask because my neck is about three shades darker. The biggest thing I noticed in your regime is that you didn’t mention using an extremely abrasive exfoliation (i.e: gloves, loofahs, etc) and you didn’t mention baking soda, lemon, etc which is extremely acidic and painful. I tried it, didn’t work and BURNED. I’m going to look into all of these and really hope I see progress (paired with weight loss)

I went to a dermatologist and asked about mine. This was a great video. I've been on Retin-A and Hydroquinone for 20 years now. I have/had malasma on my right cheek and neck. My dermatologist put me on a Retin-A and Hydroquinone regiment and within days it went away. I remember crying I was so happy. I'd suffered with melasma from middle school to early adulthood, and I finally found something that worked. Once the darkness went away, she suggested that I mix a pea a size amount of moisturizer to the Retin-A to reduce the sensitivity and peeling. I don't have an issue with darkness anymore but I still use Retin-A on my face for skin clarity and fine lines. I use the Hydroquinone for spot treatment in the rare event I have a dark mark from acne (I almost never break out). Your skin will become hypersensitive over time but that's normal. I still get chemical peels and microdermabrasion and I'm fine. Best of luck to you on your skin journey.

@@ThePrettyMiss If you are currently pregnant or breast feeding, you can use vitamin C, arbutin, and glycolic acid. Doctors have advised against Retin-A and Hydroquinone during pregnancy and breastfeeding because they don't know what side effects it may have on the baby.

so darkness on the neck is not always hyperpigmentation. It’s actually hyperkeratosis. Hyperpigmentation is an overproduction of melanocytes. Hyperkeratosis is a thickening of skin which makes skin appear dark. Think of it as a stack of pancakes. So tretinoin breaks skin cells up & helps them shed, so it causes the shedding of all the extra stacks of skin that’s causing the darkness. Considering you’re saying that it only took you a few uses of tretinoin on the neck, it sounds like you have hyperkeratosis & should seek treatments according to that & not hyperpigmentation.

Check out Dr V Hyperpigmentation Clinic. She specifically addresses brown and dark skinned people. She talks about a variety of products that are/are not good for brown/dark skinned people’s skin. She has a lot of positive views about The Ordinary mentioned in this video

Hi! I’m so impressed with your results! I’m trying to order the tretinoin from the site you suggested. Do I need a prescription to make a purchase?

I have dark neck and it's so embarrassing when people just assume to don't clean after properly and say all sorts of harsh things without having any knowledge.

I am in love with all of your content! Love this so much as I've ALWAYS had a dark neck. I lost over a 100lbs at one point and it was still dark. So I don't think weight has to do with it. Going to try the ascorbic acid and tretinoin first. Fingers crossed!

@ann long how did it work on me then? Botanicals are great however do some research on active ingredients. Physically go out and buy Tretinoin yourself and tell me it don’t work and that I am just doing this for money 😂

Hey Beautiful. Have you ever tried tried Ammonium Lactate Cream 12% ? It's really helped with my hyperpigmentation and it doesn't make you peel. Also helps with Keratosis Pilaris. Within about 3 days you can tell the difference.

Geez good thing I found this video today I have struggled with this since I was young even in highschool people made fun of me and it made me self-conscious about my skin that I hated myself am hoping to start my journey today to a dermatologist .I thought I was the only one with this kind of skin problem ❤️ am hoping to heal so that I can feel good about myself, what hurts is that people close to me made me feel bad about myself even my bestfriend ,cousins, siblings and school mates 😭 . I hope someday I'll feel better about my skin
