It's a ramble! I usually like my video more straight to the point but this is an update on my weight loss and future goals.

3 days on Mounjaro - Day 1: long term tingly toes completely normal (no more tingling), Day 3: cough I've had for months completely disappeared, feel very calm and much better focus on tasks, appetite noticeably suppressed, no desire to snack and feel great! :) ... am hopeful that blood pressure and cholesterol will also be much improved after a few weeks on Mounjaro 😁👍

You look so healthy & happy 😊 My mounjaro is on it's way to me as i speak & it was your video which helped me to think differently about starting it as my experience with weight is so similar to yours. I'm very nervous but also hopeful.

I was nervous when I started in the first week of November, but it was very straightforward. My weightloss has been slower, 26lbs in 3 months, but I'm absolutely fine with that. Its about getting rid of old habits, learning to not be in a diet mindset but to enjoy healthy food without being overly restrictive. Good luck!

I'm in my first week and it is making me conscious of what I'm eating for the first time in years. I used to think about my next meal and then eat unconsciously. Now I track and it's encouraging me to try different foods. Thanks for the update

Thanks so much for speaking about your experiences and your medical background, as well. I’ve struggled with my weight, probably since my teens but as the years have gone on with Covid and repeated chest infections, broken ankles etc which has severely limited my exercise, my weight has climbed to the point where I can really tell its effecting my health and I just don’t feel like myself at all. I’ve been on diets before and sometimes, quite successfully (for a while) and over time with diet and exercise I’ve even lost around 4 stone +. My problem is I always put it back on and while I’m dieting I feel starving all of the time and cant stop obsessing about food! I’m thinking that Mounjaro is worth giving it a try. I’ll have to take it cautiously and monitor symptoms and eat small, regular meals, as I suffer from migraines and severe nausea on a more frequent basis than most normal people, so I might very well be one of the people who has nausea with it. But then, if I have that anyway at might not make much difference to me!

I did a fitness camp and on one of the days we had a 20mile hike. Previously i had been able to do it, but on one occasion they gave us a sort of chickpea soup thing the night before for our evening meal, amd lots of us had to finish the walk early. Its all a matter of protein for me, the only thing to properly fill me up is protein, and a good decent amount of it (protein that i chew and not drink).

I started Zepbound 1/13 and i’m down 9lbs. It has completely changed my life in a very short time period. I pay out of pocket for the compound (it’s hard to get it covered in the US) but it’s 1000% worth it!

Great video and congratulations Emma!!! I wonder, i grew up on southeast Asian diet (Vietnamese) and in the 90s, fast food was more expensive than cooking at home so my mom cooked at home 95%. And when I ate fast food in my 20s in college, it did not make me feel good at all. And to this day, if I don’t eat vegetables i ‘need’ in a week, i would feel general’unwellness’ and I can’t explain why. I wonder if the fast food science as created an addiction and reset our bodies for unhealthy food cravings? Now, even on busy weeks of inpatient care, I need NEED healthy food in my system and junk food will not satisfy.

The boosted metabolism from a single day of non-deficit calories is interesting. Do you have any sources to back up that claim?
@petralea13 сағат бұрын
Hello Emma, if you dont mind, can you please tell me whether the injections do more than just suppress the appetite. I wonder if one eats restricted calories as some people do when on injection, one would lose weight too no? is there any other benefit ?
@7031iVi1307Күн бұрын
@emmaanders I’m quite concerned about calorie intake. I’m on 2.5 as well and I eat around 1.800-2.000 a day I would estimate (also eyeballing like you do). Sometimes more, sometimes less. My basal metabolic rate is calculated as about 1.900, I’m 105 kg and 1.76m. I feel like if I eat too little that my weight loss stops. So I try to eat when I’m hungry and have a normal level of appetite. I’m simultaneously trying to build muscle with strength training or at least don’t lose muscle (which I maintained luckily). I could probably go for more appetite suppression with a higher dose but I’m hesitant. But I’m concerned that what I do is not enough and my weight loss is too slow. I have lost 20 lbs in about 4 months which seems to me quite low. What do you think?
@EmmaandersКүн бұрын
It’s a loss! And 20lbs is a lot. There’s absolutely no race. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things. As long as you’re doing the right things don’t look at the number on the scale- just use it for the general trend. Keep going 👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks Dr Emma, and congratulations🎉on your weightloss, you are my source of inspiration on weightloss.I was struggling with my weight and have tried everything and nothing worked. I stumbbled into your video in December 2024 talking about mounjaro, after listening to you I decided to start my mounjaro journey on the 30th of December on 238.43pounds on 2.5mg. Today being 29th of January 2025, I am down to 225.8pounds in one month 💪💪💪🎉🎉. I am now on 5mg monday the 27th Jan 2025 was my first dose... Thank you once more ❤!

I’ve been on it for 4 weeks. I can honestly say it’s changed my entire relationship with food in this short time. I no longer constantly think about food. Also, a good side effect, I’m now more focussed than ever, I used to procrastinate a lot but now I don’t. I’d be interested to know how you plan to come off the drug? If you are going to?
@karaleeann1211Күн бұрын
Were you insulin resistant before starting? Have you ever tested your fasting insulin level?
@EmmaandersКүн бұрын
I have type one diabetes in my family so I’m quite neurotic about testing sugars and had a glucose tolerance test when pregnant. Testing insulin itself isn’t typically done by nhs gps but I once had it done privately- all normal. My blood sugars and a1c are surprisingly at the low end of normal whenever tested. Totally not deserved with my previous diet. Never had any clinical markers for insulin resistance but I don’t think it’s impossible

Hi new to your channel Emma, I’m curious to what your thoughts are around people who are quite overweight but don’t struggle with hunger. I have a similar story to you . Definitely a Yo yo lifestyle pattern. Do you think mounjaro still has a place. I’ve recently lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks. The keeping the weight off is my big issue. Thanks in advance.

I don’t worry about refined carbs but I don’t eat them the majority of days. I equally wouldn’t say I’m true keto… but when debating the ‘carby vegetables’ that’s gone too far for me haha

I noticed you were flip flopping between saying "ultra" processed foods and just "processed" foods, so I wanted to know which you're trying to eliminate for the 30 days. I know you're doing your own weighing on what's what, but I saw something that said a can of vegetables is processed food. Fair, but like.....that's totally different than something like a standard protein bar.
@EmmaandersКүн бұрын
Yes I haven’t clearly defined it- which is why I’m taking a few days to work out specifically what I’ll do- then go for it.

I have reviewed so many Reddit chats and it seems like most people don’t agree with the idea that 2.5 mg is enough to see weight loss. Perhaps you exercised as well? Did you always stay on the micro dose?
@EmmaandersКүн бұрын
There’s a lot of rubbish on reddit. I’d avoid
@sassyt1545Күн бұрын
First of all, 2.5 mg is not a “microdose” and Reddit chats are not research.
@majesticallymade6177Күн бұрын
2.5mg is enuf if yu still have no 'food noise' and appetite suppression. I'll be going Into my 5th week on Mounjaro n will not increase. If everything is working for me why wud I double side effects. For me anyway, I can manage wat I deal with on 2.5. I exercise reg, hav tiny tiny cravings once in awhile but it's nothing. Don't snack. One meal a day n protein shake. Dessert, rasberries n blueberries with Greek yoghurt n plenty of fluids. I'm free from joint pains, down 15lbs in 2wks but maybe mostly water but I feel lighter n have more energy. I was poisoning myself with junk food and alcohol 4 so long. Great vid Emma it's encouraging n congratulations on yur weight loss 🎉
