Been doing a lot of these tips and 100% can’t wait to see the 300lbs strict press. Recently hit a 200lbs strict press for 3 and a 205 strict log press. I’ve been alternating between the implements with different variations, push, jerk, pin etc and also been doing a lot of close grip as my main bench variation. Has seemed to work pretty well.

Just did OHP this morning as a part of my 5x5 plan. With 165 lbs I went 5, 5, 5, 4, 4.. I crushed triceps yesterday so hopefully that is the cause for the failed reps and my linear progression hasn’t stopped. May have to deload and implement these tips!

I had a lot of success doing overhead yoke walks for my OHP. Same concept as the push press but even further. You can really overload the shoulder girdle and get a lot of time holding 300+ lbs over your head. And unlike the regular yoke, it's not actually that taxing so you don't have to worry about trashing your ability to recover. Also definitely build the shit out of your rear delts and upper back with both bodybuilding and strength movements and make sure you are keeping them super tight when pressing. If you think about how tight you have to get your upper back when setting up for a bench and how important it is, you have to be able to create the same exact tight position, except it's even more important because there's no bench to push against. So It's gotta be all muscle baby. Good luck man, I visited your gym once when you were just getting into strongman. You've come a long way and I don't see you slowing down any time soon. Super excited to see how far you go

Excellent, solid advice for not only the OHP, but how to systematically strengthen any big lift. You're a big inspiration for me and my cousin that I work with, and work out together in our own garage gym. What a timely video! Just today I pressed 80kg thrice. Next up 90kg and hopefully 100kg (or 225lbs) sometime during 2021. Progress has been slowing down a lot after getting to 80kg tho and I'll know this vid will be helpful even before watching it EDIT: Now I feel pretty, pretty smart since the tips were things I kinda had figured out. Triceps are definitely the weak point at the moment. Thanks for the vid!

Taking some inspiration from our favourite bearded lady. He did a free program a while back right after his kid was born. He hit the bench four times a week. Im modifying that program to favour the press and the deadlift instead of squat and bench. Going to hit deads 3 times and press 4 times a week. Switching between variations through out the program. My question is, how much would the overloading you get from a push press transfer to the strict press? How useful is it?

How would look like your strict press day in terms of sets/reps? Im following an starting strength full body program 3x per week, but im stuck at 135x3x5. Instead of rotating between OHP and bench press, OHP will be my main pressing movement. I will adopt a heavy-light-medium approach: strict press (heavy), strict press (medium, like a "technique day"), and pin press (light) at my nose height. Ill take your approach to add a bit of volume on my triceps as well. However, im not very sure about the 3x5. The linear progression is still worth (and easy to follow) to me, but the reps and set scheme is still unclear, what would you recommend to me?

First time on this channel, clicked because I'm very interested in getting as large a strict OHP as possible. So my question is, can a person get a 300lb strict press without drugs? I'm not saying Szat is on the gear, I don't know. I'm just curious like what is a realistic max strict press. I'm 6'1'' myself. I have no idea how high I could go and I don't know what the quality of my genetics is anyways. But I always figured my natty limit would be around 225. Personally I've only done 150 at the most after about 3 months of lifting.
