This was in my recommendations. I never thought about the coffee can parts. That's genius. I will have to add that to my pile of terrain junk lol.

Something else I keep too that is great for Warhammer and Scifi buildings are plastic Mushroom containers like you get at Walmart from produce and the containers my tofu come it. All I have to do it add bits and some 3d printed parts and I have bunkers and buildings.

I built a bunch of shacks in this exact same way for This Is Not A Test. Used foam board to make the shape of some and chocolate covered cherry boxes for others. Simple to do, fun, and can really eat up a lot of bits and scrap material you have lying around.

Lots of great creativity here, but in particular I'm inspired by your homemade non-electric candle heated hot-wire cutter, and how you used it to carve stonework.

Thank you! Shacks are a good project to practice with different materials since in real life they would be made of whatever someone could scrounge. I had not made many tarps before this project but that's the method I use now. Thank you for watching!

Love this, i am searching for spacestation/hanger bits, but this gave me ideas for old wrecks
@thriftminis
@thriftminis Жыл бұрын
Thank you, maybe a disposable plastic cake tray would make a good base for a hanger? Disposable shaving razors have lots of interesting texture on the handle that is good for scifi. Just a few Ideas.
@xionlord00
@xionlord00 Жыл бұрын
@@thriftminis Oh Thats not a bad idea, cause the trays got some solid funky geomentry for bulkheads, and the razers could make for some support pillars. Imma write that down, might make for a fun experiment.

Your video came across my recommended and I gotta say it was well worth a watch. I wish more channels did found-object builds like these because the creativity is always off the charts. Your channel and Scratch Bashing are pretty much the only ones I've seen that do stuff like this. Insta-subbed.

Thanks a lot! When I first got started I learned how to make terrain from white dwarf magazine and I always had a lot of fun. I have made a ton of other stuff. Might do a video just explaining how i made things and showing them off. I appreciate the subscription!

Very informative and instructional video. We can't all afford to be "professionals" and accept the higher costs of purchasing that can come with modelling. Since last year, I have started to make diorama's, using any materials that can be found, many at no cost, like cardboard, foam used for packing parcels etc. It is more fun doing your own thing at cheaper costs.
@thriftminis
@thriftminis Жыл бұрын
That's true! I started by looking at old White Dwarf magazines where they would show you how to build terrain from bits of junk. It half the fun for me. thank you for watching. I will post more videos that show how to make things from recycled materials.

You are welcome. I do not own a 3d printer although I like some of the things that it could make. You can do a lot with found items. Just try stuff out, if its a mess it was trash anyway. Don't worry about being the best at first just play around and get some experience and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

I’ve just gotten into dioramas and minis lately when a BoyLeiHobbyTime video popped up. I love his stuff of course but it’s insanely professional and intense what he uses. It’s fun to watch but as a complete stranger to the hobby it’s overwhelming. This video popped up of yours and I think this is exactly what I needed! Im not ready to start making stuff yet, but this type of content really shows people that anyone can do this stuff. It’s super amazing what you are doing and it’s very inspiring. Thanks !!!!!!!!! :D
