My friend Sergey makes a circuit board that allows you to pulse a solenoid at rates from 300 rpm to 12,000 rpm. We use it in PCP bb machine guns. I wonder if you could find a sweet spot pulsing your solenoid. I'd attach a link, but it would probably disappear this comment. Here are some keywords. Sergey's Board, Drozd, Superbird

I think one way you might be able to get better flow is if you added some air lines to the bottom to actually fluidize the powder. Another way is to flip the unit upside down and add an inner siphon tube that goes down into the center. Air comes in the bottom, throws the powder up, aerates it, then catch the flowing air(venturi action) and flies up the tube the weight of the creamer naturally feeds down into the opening and flies straight up the centertube. In short: air goes in at bottom, flying powder comes out top. This is how powder based fire extinguishers work. The hacksmith has a video where they convert one into a cornstarch thrower

That thing looks really fun to operate, and with a couple of tweaks could potentially be even more impressive than it already is. I'm sure using coffee creamer in a controlled and effective manner in a weapon platform is pretty finicky, but that's also what makes this so cool. Looking forward to your next project as always

Flour is a lot cheaper than creamer and, when airisolized, it's very flammable, as is sugar (you can mix them together) which is why grain silos, mills, etc. are seen on the news when they don't clean and follow safety guidelines and blow sky high. We'd make bombs (in the military) which were 55 gal. drums with an explosive core surrounded by flour, when the core would detonate it would compress then explode the outer drum releasing the flour into the air and KABOOM. No, I'm not going to say how we built them but they were an improvised munitions, obviously.

I love this. Like a true engineer, you have the ability to make a flame thrower, but taking time to make a funnel is a bridge to far. Because the desire to light this up is more important than a stupid funnel. That is for version 2. Keep up the great work.

If you ever retry this, try exploring the Venturi effect, grain fluidizing, and some way of agitating the powder to prevent clumping and blocking flow.
@korishan3 жыл бұрын
Really neat project there. Was glad to see another video from ya. Nice work! 😎 As mentioned in some of the other comments, you could get better flow by putting the air tube at the bottom of the holding canister, instead of a long tube with multiple holes. Mr Montugar makes a good point about a siphon tube in the center. I hadn't thought of this one, but good idea. I was thinking of a venturi effect the way that a sandblaster works. But this wouldn't work quite the same for this application. Unfortunate with the solenoid issue. That was a pretty good idea, to be honest. Remote release is better in this case as you can stop the flow at the source. Bigger solenoid might work better tho. I think you should revisit this project, with just a few tweaks, but the main content would be different powdered fuels. TKOR showed that different powders are flammable. However, it was in a small test with a straw/tube. It would be interesting to see these scaled up to this level. 🤪 Maybe instead of a long video, have a Shorts video with a particular fuel. That could get you lots of flame-on content with minimal work 😉

I'm thinking an auger delivering a consistent amount of powder into the airstream (tube) would work as a metering device. I don't think it would matter if your auger and powder canister were pressurized. There are wood auger bits that are relatively inexpensive available in most hardware stores. I suppose it could be powered with a cordless drill too. You would just have to make the trigger work from your flame thrower handle. Bike brake cable and brake handle would be pretty simple to rig up. Then you could change the amount of creamer being discharged with the drill rpm.

Try using powdered sugar instead of coffee creamer. It’s lighter and finer so it should be easier to propel out with the same air pressure. I think the coffee creamer is too thick and clumpy and that’s why you’re getting the burst effect.

@baloneyjusticecheezedog3 жыл бұрын
Why not do the same thing a sandblaster gun does and use a air compressor to push the coffee creamer power out that way? also maybe you need to control your projectile material more.. you want to get distance out of it.. so in some way it needs to be able to fly farther.. and means adding mass to it.. coffee cream is vary flammable but what if you you mix it with random other materials like like oil for jet stream effect, sugar or honey.. and then powered to start it.. I see something like a multistage gun that goes from flower like powders to thick material that can travel quite far to get this longer and longer flame. the only limitation of course if the materials was not on fire you could readily eat it.
