I have a couple dozen stumps bugging me for years. I look forward to nibbling them down this week. I found a McClane commercial edger for a negotiated bargain of $100, bought 2 Diablo Demo Demon blades for $30 on the way home. The local lawn guys wanted $600 to do the stumps. Thanks for an affordable alternative idea!

Hello and Welcome to the Channel . I have removed quite a few stumps here on our property and like how easy the little machine is to move around . Sounds to me that you got a good bargain for your edger and have fun getting the stumps out of your way . Thanks for Watching

I purchased the TroyBilt edger last fall and just today started using it. I mounted my two top quality carbide blades, they're the ultra thin type. I'm thinking thicker blades would be better. Also the blades don't like to stay lined up. They weren't cheap so I'll stay with them. I can see getting the sweep right is key. I did my first stump standing up and got a lot of squealing due to the blades locking-up on the stump. So I found you again to learn the error of my ways. I'll get my chair and plywood.

Hello, sounds like you just about have this tool dialed in and setting in a chair makes controlling the blades a lot easier. Good luck with your project and Thanks for Watching

I got a hart 40v trimmer with an edge trimmer attachment and might try this out.. perhaps a shaped piece of wood can keep me from placing a foot near the cutting area ... I think attaching something like plexiglass as a secondary guard might be prudent in case carbides break off

Nice idea , I mounted a chain saw blade on my trimmer and did the same , can you please link the blade brand you using
@AskDaddyjoe2 жыл бұрын
Hello Sam, the blade's I have on are 7-1/4-inch 40 teeth carbide tip blades and any brand will do. When the blades make contact with the soil, they will remain sharp longer than the chainsaw blades do. I hope this helps and Thanks for Watching

Got a dumb question, if anyone can answer for someone who has never used an edger...does the nut on the edge of the blades have some locking mechanism? Looking at making this for myself as I have a ton of little tiny stumps that need going. Thanks!

Could you put more than 2 blades on the machine. Maybe like a dado blade?
@shawnrichardson55273 жыл бұрын
Can you show exactly how you modified this and list what parts and where to buy in the description. Step by step would be huge and instill confidence when attempting to mimic your results.

Great video, Joe! Definitely a cost effective way to grind down a stump. Those commercial grinders can get rather costly depending on the size of the job. I have a feeling that cedar might be used for the bridge?🤔 Enjoy the nice weather, buddy!

Well now how did I miss the last video? I guess that answered my question on the cedar tree.🤣 Oops.

Use a dado stack set from a table saw.

Wish I had an edger like that but mine is held like a weed trimmer. So I bought a root hog that installs on the end of it.

Hello. Being able to transport either tool so easily is a win and removing the stump saves the mower Thanks for Watching
