I really like that shape of syringe for rinsing wounds, and areas in the mouth after dental work. When I’m going to be needing to use a considerable amount of glue I put it in a condiment bottle. They come with a cap so you can leave it in the bottle, and it won’t dry out.

Hi Sharon, I've used a lot of your ideas! You are so talented. I wanted to share a gluing technique that I learned from someone else on KZbin, but I can't recall his name. You can use" Loctite Super Glue Professional Liquid" to glue the popsicle sticks to the cardboard by scoring, then wet both surfaces with a paint brush and add super glue to the popsicle stick and place on top of the dampened cardboard and it will glue up instantly! I use it all the time. I'm making your beds right now and used this technique! Thank you for all your hard work and sharing with the rest of us!

These are so darn cute, Sharon . I love them. I'm sure people will get a lot out of Ara's video too. Funnily, I recently mentioned your channels to her during a live stream & she's already a big fan of yours.

lol, awww thanks for doing that! Ara and I have been talking back and forth lately on fb.. I found her through her Addams Family videos a long time ago and have shared them on my fb page a few times. She's super talented and has a lot to offer the mini community, that's for sure. Thanks again, I'm so glad you like the beds :)

I love how they sound like wood when you put them down on the table . I'd suggest people measure the characters the beds are for .
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
me too! They sound like pieces of wood.. The beds can be made any size. I only gave my measurements because I would have been asked. Whenever I don't measure anything, that's usually the most common question, lol
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
oh and I should add, the sound is awesome the heavier the bed. The ones I made with the McDonal's coffee box feel and sound like wood when setting them down, the foam board ones not so much because those ones are very light. I actually took note of that on video but didn't include it.. I should have!

Anyway I'm very close to finishing my tree house I just really need some characters to live in there. I have no idea how to make them, so I'm hoping you might show us how you make your little mice (hint hint). Thanks again for all your videos. Can't wait to see the next one.

The great thing about using any type of cardboard is it does turn out like wood because it’s made from wood. The foam board, card stock, or cardboard is easier to cut though.

New viewer here! Thanks for some great craftwork! Just wondering why you don't use hot glue for construction and details.
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
Hot glue will hold for only so long then it falls apart when the temperature gets too warm or too cold. I do use hot glue as a 2nd pair of hands to hold things things for me while I get them permanently attached but for these small beds I didn't need it. I've never tried hot glue for decorations but I've seen it done, maybe I will one day!

Hello Sharon these are lovely❤️ Was wondering can you use dry wall compound instead of wood filler?
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
you can for sure. Drywall compound isn't as strong as wood filler

LOVE the crackle effect! Just wondering if you know how the crackle effect compares when you use an actual crackle medium or just glue?
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
I actually did a test yesterday with tacky glue.. I had issues with cracking paint while using glue in years past and couldn't figure out what was causing it, lol Anyway, I tried a test and the cracks weren't amazing but it could be because I rushed through it. I'll do a proper comparison another day and show it on video.

I looove the beds!!!..I have to laugh cause I made a bed too, but I like yours better Lolol of course!..is there a reason u have switched to wood putty instead of the dry wall compound like u put on edges of other cardboard things better?just FYI..I found a pair of scissors at Home Depot and was less than 10.00.its for cutting cardboard,thin wood ect.it works soo much easier than reg scissors..I too didn’t know there was a seringe for glue!!!! How cool is that and soo much easier and cleaner than a brush.li have to get one!!.ldidnt know if u know or not but with crackle medium if u want small cracks u brush on like reg brushing on paint but if u want large cracks,u brush on a area one time and don’t go back over that area again and u will have big cracks...did I say that right ?..lol..anyway,thanks as always for the video..❤️
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
I used wood filler for these because it's super strong. Drywall compound could easily be cracked and pulled apart, where as wood filler can't. It makes the bed pretty solid. Yes, the glue syringe is freaking awesome! It doesn't have a cap though so be sure to keep it covered when not in use. Yes, I know all about the crackle medium.. Ara has nailed that part of it, she does a really great job. You can also use tacky glue instead of crackle medium.. I learned that from my painting my gnome home and getting cracks on my walls that I didn't want, lol I might do a painting video for these at a later date but for now, I just want to get the bed frames up. I didn't know about those scissors but will def get some, that awesome. Thanks!!

I loove watching Ara..she’s such a hoot too..but I haven’t seen all her videos yet...u talking about cracks in your walls reminded me and I’m showing my age,I use to looove the flinstones..and when Wilma would get cracks in her walls she just used the cracks as stems and painted flowers on her walls. Hehe..

I hear you referencing 'tacky glue' but always see a gallon of standard white glue in your videos. Are tacky glue and white glue the same thing?
@WhereTheGnomesLive6 жыл бұрын
I use a bulk glue that is pretty much the same thing as the Alene's tacky glue I used to use. The difference for me is the price. A standard white glue is more runny, like Elmer's school glue, I don't use anything like that. This one I buy from my local hardware store, it's thick, grabs super fast, and dries clear, just like a tacky glue. For doing a job like putting these beds together, a person will want to use a tacky glue.
