The intuition you had about the sample start-velocity relationship and how it mimics the real organic behavior of the percussive sounds it's brilliant! i have to confess that after watching your video where you talk about the scrub and the hi hat technique, even if you didn't show the settings in sampler i've been able to perfectly recreate it by logic and doing some sort of "intuitive reversed engineering" looking at all the possible features in sampler and understanding how to make them interact with each other. Moreover i added another feature mapping the release and the decay with another device's parameters (i don't remember what it is at the moment, i should open the project to see) to get more articulation in a way that you can mimic the typical choke behavior of the hat but just if you want and when you want, based on how you press the controller button or how you program the midi notes on the piano roll manually. It was really fun!

I appreciate this message so much! The number one thing i'm hoping to inspire is this type of exploration - the fact that you were able to intuitively recreate, and add on to the functionality of the concept is exactly what I want to see more of in the production community! People getting hands on to make good music from the ground up.

@@ChuckSutton Hi Chuck! Glad you replied! Rereading my comment I noticed that I described the function I added to your dynamic hat simply as "typical choke behavior" but in reality it is not just that. My idea started precisely from the fact that when I finished replicating your technique I realized that it was not possible to make the hits with low velocity have a long release (as is also possible to do with a real hi hat if you think about it) because they start from the tail of the sample. So, to do some experiment, first of all I thought of loading a sample of a nice long LONG hihat, then fiddling with the sampler ADSR to find the right proportions between the parameters to obtain the most realistic and organic effect possible and mapping the sampler parameters with a midi envelope, I managed (although not exactly perfectly, I have to study the interactions a little more deeply) to add more behaviors of a real hihat that were missing in your technique. 🤝

@@ChuckSutton very creative bro, but we could do nothing if it wasn’t God’s will that each and every one of us would exist and live. And us humans know this universe has many laws, which makes everything possible, and God is the perfect being that made everything. We humans were made to be His images, but we all fell short of His glory. The result is death. If we were obedient to God’s perfect laws, we would live on forever, but none of us did. That is why, it is written in the Bible, for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have eternal life. God loved us so much, that He did not leave us destroy ourselves, but sent His Son to be a substitute for us before Him as our representative so that if we believe in Him, and His Words, we will live forever with God, we will be renewed, transformed in His likeness. The Word of God will feed your soul, Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Him. God is ready to offer you His life, and peace, which transcends all understanding, only if you believe, and love and obey Him in return. God only wants our good, so that our life would prolong forever with Him, and that we do not receive the due punishment for our imperfect life, death, separation from God forever, the author of life, and all that is good. God offers us life to the full, through Jesus Christ His Son, here in this life and in the next. And music is one of His work, so much complexity that our minds cannot comprehend, but God is willing to offers us everything, if we love Him, and also, love others like ourselves, including our enemies, because we ourselves were God’s enemies, but became His own people, His children, and His friends, as soon as we allowed Him into our hearts and minds. God’s law permits everything to exist, and He sustains them all. He will judge everything one day, but thanks to His patience, we can try to get everyone saved, through the message of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, prince of peace, King of kings and Lord of lords. God bless you Chuck, may God’s peace be with you.

Patience is my fav demo project to date, hope it gets released as a song, and the Rainstorm rack blew my mind as soon as I dug into the tracks when I first opened the demo. I was shocked how good a demo track was. I asked Google Gemini who made the track to find your video here and to find a full explanation of it was so fulfilling. Your ideas are so creative and your solutions to execute them from thought to the track are so impressive. It's also quite the coincidence that I had just discovered your track "133 - Ode to Freshman" a couple months ago and loved it as well. I hope you make music for a long time!
