How has the paint-to-hand interface worked for you? Is there any rub off onto you hand? Is there any excess friction? TIA...
@NickBardsley3 жыл бұрын
@@wellnesspathforme6236 no the hand area is fine and no extra friction. There are a few dings on the sides of the kettlebells where they knock together occasionally doing double cleans and things like that but no big deal it's all aesthetic.

Thank you, I know this video is over 4 years old but I found 8 different-sized Kettlebells in the back of an old van in the junkyard earlier today. I was searching for parts to restore this old truck of mine. I took them, the junkyard folk didn't even charge me for them. They are in dire need of refurbishing. I worked out with them before I sat down to YT to research how to restore them. Your video was the first to populate. I will pick up all the supplies at work tomorrow and get at it. I really like working out with kettlebells so I will buy some more sizes tomorrow also. And shout to you @nickbardsley who replied to your video and posted a link to KB workout. I am going to try them.

I see they are Dragon Door (RKC) kettlebells, possibly the best out there. I prefer RKC to other top makes like kettlebell kings. RKC are just so well balanced to use.

@@EUnotsogreat yea they are. The gym I worked at gave them to me- but they got a bit rusted so did my best to revive 👍 still in great condition
@wellnesspathforme62363 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this, but for the older set, put the kettlbell on the chair to sand it, and use a foam pad for your knees when you kneel. The position is much easier to sand in. A chair and table would work, too.
@NickBardsley3 жыл бұрын
Good points! I just didn’t want to get rust all over my table and chairs and the angle worked well for the camera. That balcony was my only outdoor space lol so it was limited

Thinking of this for a few of my bells but am reluctant to strip powder coat off. How do you like the grip with the paint compared to powder grip especially now that a year has passed? Has the paint held up?
@NickBardsley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the grip is fine with the paint - don't really notice much of a difference. The paint has held up well, of course some marks and scuff where the kettlebells clank together when you're doing double kettlebell work.

Hi Nick, thanks for the great video. I have 6 RKC bells that a client left outside, they're pretty rusty... I have added the items to my amazon cart that you mentioned. Is the Hunt Green paint necessary for this process? I prefer to leave them black. Thanks in advance! - John

How did you strip the powder coat? Or were they not coated to begin with?

They are RKC kettlebells so they were powder coated but they just rusted over. So just knocked as much rust as I could and coated over it

Even if they are powder coated, they just need a little scuff/scratch for the primer to latch on.

They might look great but spray paint is just about the worst coating you can put in a kettlebell from a functional standpoint. There is a reason RKC bells come covered in e-coating.
@NickBardsley3 жыл бұрын
Yeah of course it will never last as long as the e-coating.. but unfortunately most people don't have the ability to e-coat home...so this will have to do.. Its pretty easy to spray another coat on if they get scuffed upp.. the real point was to get rid of all the rust and make them usable again.
