In this video, I break down my process for my daily routine as a full time ebay seller. I'll show you how I run my reselling business to generate $42,000 per year in profit. This is just a break down of my reselling process and income and it does not include any income from KZbin. This video should be really helpful for new sellers that are still trying to learn processes, and entertaining for seasoned sellers that may not need help with the basics.

I’ve been watching your videos for about a month now and decided to go ahead and jump into reselling. In my first week of doing it and stocking up my inventory I sold $475 gross from Friday- Monday. With only about $60 invested. Can’t wait to see it grow. Thank you for all the advice.

You've really inspired me. Over the last two years, I sold over $20,000 of my own items on Ebay, mostly cameras and things that I know sell fast, but I honestly never took it further to go look around town for deals to make. Thanks for opening my eyes to the possibility, I'm excited to start looking for new things to list.

@@haydenbrown2039 dollar tree is probably not the best place to source for stuff. I'm not saying there might not be something there but nothing really worth while. I would go to thrift stores like Goodwill or Salvation Army. You can find stuff there. You need to download the ebay app on your phone. Love this, Josh! RE: about that recipes lot early in the video - We do the same thing with auctions with our hard-to-quantify items. While we started on eBay over 20 years, when it was ALL auction, that's all we were able to do. But as times have changed, we've discovered the same trends you mentioned (that buy-it-now generally brings more than an auction listing unless it's really rare). I never would have thought to sell a collection of recipes. So, those Lucchese boots...this is the 2nd video I've seen this week featuring that brand! And even after 40+ years buying and selling I've never come across them. Maybe that's a sign that we'll find some soon! 😂😂 BTW: It's nice that you do the same thing for your mail lady that we do for our letter carrier. A little appreciation goes a long way. Also love how you are encouraging newcomers to the business. Excellent, informative video!

I've been given a huge lot of collectibles to sell on consignment but it never took off because I don't have a car, scale, label printer, or extra income to invest in such things. No way am I using rideshare here in FL during Covid! But this inspired me to think about my options. Even on consignment at 50%, I could sure use the extra cash. Unfortunately, my lease is running out and the landlord is the owner so I only have until the end of the year. 18 items in one weekend is hopeful..I have way more than that to list..hmmm..gonna subscribe and see what else ya got to get my gears turning.

I think it's great trying to help new sellers like this. You have a lot of great info. I try also but most only want instant gratification. It doesn't usually work like that. A couple of points though. When you sell "plus shipping". You really should know in advance what shipping will cost, at least a lot closer than weighing it after the sale. YOU have experience but newbies don't. Small items are easy but you should have a better "guess" at larger things. Newbies can be shocked at the actual costs. Next, sellers should be aware that eBay and Paypal take their % off the entire sale which includes shipping. If you ship Flat Rate envelope for $6.94 ( my rate) you really need to factor in fees so it really costs you approx $7.84. I've been selling for over 20 years on eBay and it took 14 to get to 6 figures but it is possible. I don't sell like you but I love what you’re doing. Love that you are giving real figures and helping others. Keep up the good work. It’s a great job/hobby any way you look at it.

@@SuperNeo005 Sorry I don't. It would not be as helpful as Hairy's. I sell quantities of the same products that I source. My selling would not relate to most starting out. I concentrated on a market that I knew and loved so at first, it was not really work. I find opportunities Like Hairy all the time but frankly, I couldn't take them on. as I don't want that much work and already make what I want to, easier. Hairy looks pretty unorganized and that is slowing him down. He also has to source items constantly as well as list constantly. It is his full-time job after all. And it is pretty much full time. Looks great to may people but truth be told he is working his a$$ off as well as making videos. It isn't as easy as he makes it look. That said his advice is fantastic for his type of sales. I list about 150-200 items and have 20 -1000 of each SKU, so I. don't have to list as often. Still, I am sure Harry uses templates to make it easier as it should be. If I can pass on one thing, forget the word salad. Years ago I and many others who still do, posted a newspaper article on each item. Back then I taught one friend how to list when you still had to know some code to post a pic. Now its drag and drop. He started with one pic and two lines of description. I said I'd show him later how to expand his listing. Never did. To this day he posts a few pics and still almost no description. Here are the hard facts. VIRTUALLY NO ONE READS DESCRIPTIONS. About 60% of my items are sold via mobile devices and they make it hard to even see them on a phone. I've had listings up for several years before someone messages me and says hey that’s X, not Y. Check out lots of sellers and see who is successful and ask why. Do they have 20,000 items? Do they have short descriptions and lots of quality photos? For me, that’s what makes a sale. My competition's photos either suck or they just get lazy and use pics from the web or manufacturer. Among 20 similar items, 17 are the same or crap and mine are my own and beautiful. I get picked a lot more even if my price is higher sometimes. Good Luck Solo, it’s the future of retail.

New subscriber here, excellent content. I do shipping for a living full time for the last 25 years. My only recommendation with reusing boxes is don't ignore the bottom, I tape the bottom the same as the top in case the packages are flipped around which I know happens. The tape will disintegrate after while so I wouldn't trust it.

First time watcher...appreciate the speed you talk and that you don’t dabble much. One thing you might want to mention in a future video is that things like your car expenses, your gas expenses, your vehicle insurance expenses… All of these things are deductible from your income. I sell full-time and drive an adorable yellow Toyota FJ cruiser which loves to drink her gas… But all of her expenses are 100% deductible because I never use her for anything else. Every time I drive to town I am delivering packages to FedEx, UPS, and US PS… As well as sourcing for more goods. I love that I get to drive my super beloved vehicle and not have to think too much about the fact that she only gets 13 miles to the gallon.

wow, just finished....AMAZING! Video was done perfectly and you ended with exactly what i was looking for....the details on the numbers....one of the problems with youtube and these other ads is they only list gross made....but dont give you the details on actual final profit...thats a big deal...you went from over $900 in sales to just under $400 final take home amount....i really do appreciate you even listing estimate on taxes...no one does that..definitely double thumbs up...youre very straight forward and honest...even when you mention your amazon store you only suggest it as an " if you actually need it", youre not pushing people to purchase from you or promote yourself on other platforms...i like your style and would trust buying from you as im sure if there is an issue with the item, you also will work with your customers....Well done ...so glad i came across this.....there is another seller FeelGoodFindz she focuses on clothing(she does a good job of showing how she does measurements. For anyone focusing on clothes, this video is helpful (her friend made it) kzbin.info/www/bejne/boW6f4NndtGnpqM , and this is her short video on how she inventories her clothes : kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2qWXoWghcisq7c ....she was featured on ebay....she also has a good organized way, but unfortunately she doesnt have enough videos posted and theyre not as detailed as yours...only two so far....so i was looking for something that would give me a breakdown with numbers(this is a biggie--getting actual numbers helps people understand that its time consuming, there are results , but you have to put the work in and be patient........i have tons of personal clothes i want to get rid of ...although i know it will take time, but its better then just dumping it...i will post and just wait it out, however now ill go through my families stuff and just take all the extra knick knacks and post them as well.... THANK YOU AGAIN for your thoroughness and honesty/openness....VERY HELPFUL!

Hey Josh! We have been selling on Ebay now for over 20 years! Wish we had been able to start a KZbin channel way back then. We've been in Columbia all week and going to various GW stores. Was hoping to run into you, but never had the privilege. We sell bit of everything, and now I have gone full time. It's been refreshing to watch you and see all your success. I've branched out into several new things because of your suggestions. Thanks for the fun, informative, and interesting content. Don't change anything. Except maybe more MOZE!!

Subbed :) Im in the same boat. The only thing the bugs me about reselling is the couple dishonest customers you get, ive sold 2 old laptops within a 2 month period, the buyer will get the laptop and never send it back for their refund leaving my money "On Hold" in paypal or somehow the other guy kept the laptop and received a refund (Paypal really irks me.). Aside from ebay i do invest some and do okay with that. Other than the very few dishonest customers Ebay has helped me stay afloat through this uncertain time, Thankful for the skill.

You will definitely run into scammers selling electronics on ebay especially used or higher value stuff. With laptops especially they'll swap out parts they need then send it back. Same if you selling parts. Had a couple expensive nearly new laptops cracked the screen. Decided to part them out. $300-350 motherboards. Both guys claiming DOA though I 100% pulled them apart and packaged correctly. Used to do a lot of high value electronics pallets. Sometimes end up with stuff like $1,000+ drones. Use it myself for awhile and know for certain its good. Ship it out and oh its not working get send back a broken one. Ebay and paypal always sides with buyer regardless. So not only lose value of the sale but lose on shipping too. Only recourse is lodge an ebay complaint against buyer. Ebay is secretive about what it takes to get banned but heard its a few complaints within a certain amount of time. After lot of frustrations, losing thousands of dollars within short time frame thought of getting some customized tamper proof stickers. That way if item was taken apart or different one returned its obvious. Would state that in auction. All the sketchy returns for most part stopped.

Josh, I've been following you for several months now. It's weird, but we use the exact same scale, exact same mount dog lights, and more. Feels like we're brothers from other mothers haha :) I had all this stuff before I started following you! Hey, also, I wanted to add some information about my personal experience with taxes from reselling. **I'm not a tax professional, this is just my experience** There's a perk to resell as a side hustle while maintaining another job (a.k.a. on someone else's payroll). I work full-time and sell part time, and because of that my business income (as a sole proprietorship) was taxed in 2019 at my adjusted income tax bracket. I was still able to deduct a lot of business related expenses, and the way it worked out for me is I actually still received a check back from the IRS - even though my W2 takes out the least amount possible for taxes AND I was saving 30% of eBay earnings for taxes just in case. Since Josh is doing this full-time, and he's not on a company's payroll he has to save that 25% for taxes because he has to cover the tax expenses that an employer would normally cover + standard income tax, social security, etc. The benefit is that he has more freedom in his job, and can make his own hours, but that comes at the cost of slightly higher taxes. Again, don't take this as tax advice, it's just my story this last tax season.

Josh, this is one of the first videos I watched on eBay selling and thought to myself...yes, this is a real person making real $$ on eBay...you showed what sold-how you store/package/ship what you sold then broke down the honest numbers... That was back in January when I was trying to figure out how I was going to pay my health insurance premium that had tripled from 2019...sold my first item on Feb 2 and not only did I make enough to pay for March insurance but April as well! Now I’m reinvesting the leftover $$ into inventory...that’s where your videos on buying AND the podcast help me... I can’t thank YOU enough...you have literally helped me to make this a possible game changer for my life. Lol...just sold some jeans while writing this...THANK YOU!!! 🍀

Great video as always! At first I used to do the same estimates when it came to the COGS but then I started keeping track of every single of my items and I was surprised of how off I was. So I made a very easy Excel sheet that includes, fees, shipping costs, date of sale and purchase of the item, among others, which I can share with anyone here and most important, when I list an item on the SKU I write how much I paid for it, when, and where. And when you have the page of sold items you can just write that info down and you will know how much exactly you paid for it, how many days it took to sell and where you got it, and of course what your profit is. dont think that I write everything there, It would be something like : 20.7/14.gw. for something I paid $20 on July 14th at Goodwill. Thanks again!! Keep it up/

Hi, first time watcher here :) Your bag with all the recipes and recipe books. You said you weren't sure why someone would pay that much...Those are things that crafters look for when they make junk journals or other crafts. The other reason they might have sold for so much is cook books are crazy good sellers at garage sales. I once was given several totes of cook books and kept what I wanted and because they were in great shape I sold the rest for $3-5 each depending on topic & size of book (or thinkness). Crazy--I made over $100 just in cook books. :) Thanks for all your info! Loved seeing your set up & how easy you made it to understand!

Oh yeah and not sure if anyone else said it or if you know but eBay added a really cool feature for local pickups. You could deliver it to him and eBay will send him a code. He then gives you the code when you deliver it and you enter the code in...that is then considered the notification of it being deilvered

Hey, how do you handle returns on consignment deals? Let's say someone were to use it and return or claimed it didn't work. I'm doing consignment for a couple of people but I'm a little scared about something like that happening with the higher dollar items. Keep up the great content.
@HairyTornado
@HairyTornado 4 жыл бұрын
First, you need to have a contract that states how you handle it. I've never had a return on these fans but if I did, my contract says what we will do. I just wait 30 days after the fan is received before I pay the consignment fees. If there were a return before the 30 days is up, I would just give a refund once the item was received back. Waiting for the return period to end before paying saves a lot of potential headache.

We were talking yesterday about other things that could be sold. We have two people that have been doing it for years help us. But also seeing this helps with seeing what else can be sold. I've been helping her as well. My mom isn't tech savvy so we trying to help her. That's been an interesting ride because sometimes she doesn't really get what you're saying. Or with me at least.
