Agreed. A lot goes into getting licensed. Also not doing this everyday. So 4k but when are you making money again? Tomorrow, great. But in 2 days? Less appealing. There’s levels to this game of life, this seems like a great gig but also has to actually put in the hours to get paid. Being a pilot isn’t one of those make money while you sleep type of gigs, but he’s well on his way with KZbin, so he’s on the right track

I really hope I get to fly with you or somebody like you in the future. I'm a full-time single dad with a private license. I'm 35 and I had kids young so my youngest will be 18 in 3 years. I have a private in helicopter and I'm about to start working on licensing in fixed wing here shortly. That way im ready to build more time when hes out of highschool. Just what I was looking for. I’m an A&P working for a commercial airliner in NYC. I’m also involved in GA doing avionics installation. I’m on the path to become a pilot because being a A&P for a commercial airliner is not what I expected, I’m just a number with no flexibility . ​@@georgenicola8323yes and no. It really depends on your stations manager and your crew. Your crew can make or break your day. They can make you feel welcomed, give you the night off on your Friday (often a Wednesday lol) and cover for you if you need to leave and run home. Your manager can right your wrongs on a missed clock-in, let you leave early, come in late, send you home after all your work is done, approve extra time out, etc.

​@@georgenicola8323 really differs from station to station, but every major airline is going to have a thoroughly vetted corporate policy that you need to abide by. Its up to your individual station how hard they want to break from that and allow you to be a human

​@@georgenicola8323don't expect holidays or PTO. You will be working OT a LOT. I was a line mechanic for two different airlines at LAX and they were both the same. However the benefits from the union are really good. Best medical I've ever had. Just don't expect much agency over your own life and schedule until you put in 10 to 15 years.

I am also A&P certified and plan to pursue IA certification soon. I recently began flight training and hadn't considered the advantage of being a mechanic for operators. Instead of charging them initially, pilots can secure gigs, which is essentially like having insurance covered in the eyes of the operator. Great info! Thanks for the motivation!

This is by far one of the most valuable videos I have seen a pilot post. I just got done with my CFI still working on the additional stuff and time building. No I don’t do any 135 stuff, although I could I’m on a couple of 135 certificates. But, I prefer the planes I manage, and the owner trips for the 135’s that I’m on the “roster” of. Just hit 800hrs instructing. 25yrs old. With the shortage and the increase in pay at the airlines I’ve pretty much set that as my goal. Especially since LCCs like spirit, frontier, JetBlue, etc are hiring pilots at 1500hrs. Personally I came to love flying because of the places it takes you and for the excitement of flying different aircraft. My original goal when I first started flying was to somehow find a way into the corporate world. Obviously what you do isn’t very common but I feel like I could network my way to one of those “golden egg” positions. Always been personable and good at shooting the shit with anyone lol. My question is would you go to the airlines first, get some 121 experience, save up some bread for awhile then if I still want to switch up to a 91/135 charter gig do it then? Would it be easier to market yourself having that experience and be easier to find a more attractive pj gig? Or do you think it’s a better option to just get into the 91/135 field now and work my way up?

i think i just understood jealousy for the first time in my life, im an entrepreneur who's 38 years old and had a good bunch of successful start ups but heading back to zero thanks to covid. despite this i watch videos of any successful entreprenuer and im not jealous at all as i feel like im just on a journey and its a matter of time. BUT THIS DUDE, ive wanted to be a pilot my whole life, but wanted to work for myself, and make lots of money, and this dude is somehow doing all 3 and its looks insanely fun/cool/awesome. I AM OFFICIALLY JELOUS because i know ill never be like this dude and i think that where jealousy comes from, when you feel like someone has something YOU WILL NEVER HAVE. Im semi joking, im a normal person so also just happy for you dude lol but wow congrats on your life building. Amazing.

Nice center line control on takeoff at SAN....killing the turtles! I remember picking up a repo. flight from TUS to ORD in a CRJ 900.. I showed up in shorts and a backpack...my FO was in full uniform....So nice to fly relaxed....Did I catch it correctly. You're an IA? Impressive...Your rocking it bro....living the dream.
