I used to grind some black iron oxide (oxide black) into the bone black to make it dry faster. Just 10 % makes a big difference. Manganese black is even better, if you can find it. And yes, add a bit of thick oil to counter sinking in.

Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos. ¿ Las pinturas que fabricas, cuánto tiempo tardan en secarse dentro del tubo ?

love your videos dude! ive been using them as a reference for making my own lead white. How are you doing your imprimatur and under painting? Like what are your ratios of pigment, chalk for your ground?

Caveat: Just because the label says "cassel earth" doesn't mean all brands are selling the same product or exact color. Cassel earth was originally made from unstable materials such as peat and asphaltum, nowadays it is usually made of some iron oxide (a brown ochre). Some tube paint manufacturers make it with transparent synthetic pigments, very good for glazing but slower drying, though most use fast drying and more opaque iron oxides.

I have found that with all companies except for Natural Pigment. I good way to check is to see what is in a company's Naples Yellow... it is almost always a mix of titanium white and cadmium yellow. Also, any brand that has certain colors with the name Geniune before is just a good indicator that they have a lot of paints that aren't.
