Love the quote! I like to paint my sign color over my stencil, first, then when dry paint with my letter color. Seems to work like the mod podge. Your sign turned out beautiful!!

Two different rolls of Starcraft HD permanent vinyl left the sticky residue behind when I pulled my stencil up when using chalk paint. How do I prevent that?

Hmm, I haven't ever used that brand, if I use the regular vinyl I don't leave it on for more than 45-60 minutes to prevent it sticking. If you leave it on too long, it will start to bond permanently and will leave the residue. I hope that helps!

I have a few different Cricuts but my recommendation for those new to Cricut is the Explore line. The newest is the Explorer 3 but the explore 2 does almost just as much (minus cutting without a mat) and would also be great for a beginner 😊

What thickness do you recommend for the pressed plywood?

It depends on your preference, but I like 1/4 or 1/2" thick for signs. That way you have thickness to nail the border in to but it isn't too thick to make it overly heavy.

Not sure if Im the only one but when I remove the vinyl pieces with tweezers or the weeding tool, it leaves little holes in the wood from the picking, I tried this with oracle 651, could that be why? ( stickiness) or is that unavoidable?

I would try to have the hook parallel with the wood to help with not getting the wood holes!

I have an older one from 2016 when I was planning my wedding, but it’s still running great! If you are new and just looking to do basic projects like I do, I would suggest the Explore Air series. I say that because it’s cheaper than the newest Maker models. Those can do more things with wood, fabric, felt, etc but I don’t need those cut personally. So if you want to save some and can do without all the bells and whistles, that’s what I’d do 😊

Mine is just regular vinyl from a multi pack. If you have Oracle brand, I’d suggest the removable one, that will help. I would also only leave it on 10-12 minutes so it doesn’t stick to your paint. Also o prefer chalk paint over acrylic because it tends to chip/peal easier.

With this method, they aren’t. They do sell thicker plastic that your can use to make reusable stencils. But because I use them for personal use, I don’t need them to be reusable.
