In case anyone is confused: emulsion is water based paint, as opposed to oil based paint.
@waytospergtherebro Жыл бұрын
You clearly flunked high school chemistry.
@BigStib10 ай бұрын
@@waytospergtherebroin the UK, emulsion paint (shortened to "emulsion" in general speech) is water-based. This is as distinct from the more usual meaning of emulsion, ie "a mixture of two or more liquids that are usually immiscible but, under specific transforming processes, will adopt a macroscopic homogeneous aspect and a microscopic heterogeneous one." So he didn't fail his Secondary School chemistry, whereas you did fail your English Comprehension.

I JUST GOT A HUGE BAG OF SAW DUST FROM HOME DEPOT WICH THEY WERE GLAD TO GIVE TO ME. I NOW HAVE ENOUGH FOR 2 LIFE TIMES. I FEEL LIKE I WON THE LOTTERY!!
@robk.54675 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your sawdust score. However.....you have to take into account how much mdf dust is mixed in with the plywood and wood dust. They cut everything on those saws, right? I just vacuumed out the catch box under my table saw (was cutting mdf 2 weeks ago). Then ran a 2x4 through several crosscuts on it, a few rips for good measure. If you have access to a saw( any saw) it's worth considering the harm mdf and plywood dust can do in your home.

I usually make my flock in small batches using the cheap little tubes of acrylic craft paint found in various stores. I normally use 1 part paint, 2 parts water, and 4 parts sawdust. One 2 fl oz. bottle of paint for $0.50 USD mixed with 4 oz. of water yields 8 oz. of flock.

I know this video is 5 years old but I have decided to start making terrain pieces for my 40k games and wanted a cheaper way to get flock than 10 dollars for 32 ounces! Thank you so much!

here is a tip for ppl who make smaller quantities and use tubes of acrylic. A tube of cheap yellow acrylic mixed down with black gives a great forest green colour.
@hashishi97 жыл бұрын
Thomas Atkins it depends on the used pigments. There are lots of different blacks and yellows around, can you tell which you have used to get the forest green?

Hi Luke. Guess there's different ways to do things, but I found that to get the finest powder dont try to force the sawdust thru the screen. You may inadvertently shove larger slivers thru it. Hands off and let gravity do the work. Also, using a little kitchen sieve takes a long time. If you can get a house window screen/mesh, lay it across two folding chairs or whatever and put some news papers down on the floor. Throw a quart of sawdust on the screen and shake it back and forth, like you were making popcorn on the stove. The fine flour will land on the newspaper. When no more is coming thru the screen pitch that lot off to the side and save it for your course stuff. Well, thats how I did it anyway. Got a gallon of fine dust/flour in about 10 minutes. The stuff was pretty dry to start with and that helps alot. You make good videos (even tho your head isnt in the shot half the time, lol!) , and your personality comes thru loud n clear. Keep up the good work and we'll see you on the Terrainiacs page. Hope this helps. :-)

Great video, I will be making my own from here on. I can never get decent tanned flock. Now things are going to change. Thank You
@nicolaiitchenko76103 жыл бұрын
I have always preferred flock to static because, as an Australian modeler, I tend to have fairly dry grass areas so, using similar system to what you show here, I have a large range of shades and intensities of green and quite a few on shades of brown, tan, and yellow. By using these totally randomly, I get a varied color affect across a board with dry patches, worn patches, paths, wet areas and swamps. Should I need longer weeds, I tend to dollop a little PVA and stick hair, or hair piece cuttings (from the dollar store) along the edge of ditches, streams, pond etc. This same sawdust and "50 shades of green" offers different colors for different deciduous trees and, with a little dab of color on the completed and glued clump of this stuff, flowers. Cheap - even here in Australia where I need to buy a 20kg bag of sawdust flour and, since I do so many, am now about to buy my third bag since 2015.
