Fantastic video. I’m half way through making my first Frank head now. My input to making a Frank head is this (not that there is anything wrong with your masterpiece of course): instead of papier-mâché you can use fibreglass. It doesn’t take long to dry and the whole thing can be done in one sitting, also it’s much stronger and won’t go soft. I bought a fibreglass kit for £15 which included 1kg of resin and 1m2 of matting which was plenty enough. The method is the same as papier-mâché but as I said it’s much quicker to dry and much stronger. I can’t fault yours though, it’s really fantastic, you know it is, it really is.

Neil Donoghue Thats what I thought, but when I looked online I found you can get all you need for £15. My only warning is that it’s messy stuff. Your gloves get ruined and everything you touch. Also can be harmful if not using correct ppe etc.

Do you just use the fiberglass in place of the paste?

For adding the gap in the middle, couldn't you place one hemisphere on the table, then put something half as high as the gap you want between that hemisphere and the beach ball, then do the same on the top, so its all supported and you don't have the sticky tape everything? say a narrow roll of top either side, then remove it after you deflate the ball again...

Make sure the valve is at the bottom in the neck hole so you can still get to it when you’re ready
