Well that corrects what I just wrote. I assumed it dated from 1960s and most of the names in the commentary retired. My set comes from mid 1960s

Having just googled Subbuteo, the pick list to the right of the screen is lots of Subbuteo plus... "Who is Vivienne Westwood, the mother of punk rock?" Bullseye! Best search I've done in years! With both Subbuteo and Sid Vicious, a contemporary, from in and around Tunbridge Wells!

Still got my set from late 1960s along with scoreboard, fence (pretty much essential if you want to avoid losing the balls), and a few teams, including West Indies. It was OK but nothing like as good as the football. Also need a grown up as umpire or simply decide to ban LBW. Had the flat plastic football version around 1961, with pitch made from army blanket, then the 3D floodlight version from mid 1960s. Rugby was also a mixed bag. I do regret selling my football set with lots of teams when I was about 16 in 1971 - I'm pretty sure the players were better than what I bought for my son in mid 1990s. Fishing really was just like the real thing - mindbogglingly boring. Wonder if I've written something similar on this page a few years ago. Growing up in Tunbridge Wells, you couldn't get away from Subbuteo. Pretty certain the cricket version would have come out a few years after the match depicted here. Cowdrey would still have been playing but many of the others were surely retired. If I pull it down fromt he shelf, I'll have names from Kent and England and West Indies around 1970. Met prospective son-in-laws parents recently and we swapped comments about the Indian teams to that era
