I learned about Morphaweb after making this video. It's a free, open source, web app that allows you to drag-and-drop audio files into the browser, add markers and export in the correct format for Morphagene: knandersen.github.io/morphaweb/

Awesome stuff, love the macro context way of thinking about a module and sounds ❤️🎛💅

This is amazing and puts emphasis on my need to learn some more about music theory stuff. For a while I’ve been keeping to one key for a patch. But, is the composition of songs often including key changes? Hahaha. Time to do some homework and maybe pick up my guitar again or acquire a mini keyboard. Thanks for the great content as always. You’re one with that Morphogene! So good!

I find that in a single improvised modular set using generative and semi-generative approaches, it’s the key changes (or less drastic modal type chord changes) that create harmonic interest. It all starts sounding the same if I don’t shift the harmony around. So it’s kind of like chord changes within a song and key changes between songs.

@@Lightbath oh that’s brilliant! In generative patching it would totally allow you to really lean into emotional changes from song to song! That’s good food for thought thinking ahead to doing a set someday.

This was great, thank you! Do you use the STS for sample playback ever?

Haven’t tried it. That said, I love recontextualizing my samples with Morpha’s granular controls instead of just having control over start position, length and pitch of a trad sampler.
