In this video I show you how I make piping for use in my bag making projects. You can of course use the piping for any sewing project!
To calculate how wide to make my piping, I use the following formula:
Piping Diameter X 3.14 + Seam Allowance X 2 + 3mm (1/8”) Ease = Width to cut fabric
Example - 4mm Piping X 3.14 = 12.5mm + seam allowance (10mm X2) = 32.5mm + 3mm ease = 32.8mm - Round and cut as 3.3cm (1 ¼”) Fabric Strips.
