Hi Steve, if you deskinned the toms first would it affect the chutney very much do you think? Great video.

Not really, it will just have a bit less "body". I remove them sometimes, especially if the tomatos are damaged.

Welcome on board! I hope you get to try some of my creations. It's not always obvious, or visible, but the description usually has most of the gumph. For this chutney: Store for a month before eating to allow the flavours to mature and use within 3-4 months. Store in a fridge once opened. Have a great week down there!

Simple recipe!! Thanks for sharing. As it turns out, we were given a bunch of Hossinator tomatoes yesterday. Gorging on tomato sandwiches. But time to try some other tomato recipes … take care.
@DigwellGreenfingers2 жыл бұрын
Sounds great! I remember as a kid taking tomato sandwiches to school. I said to my Dad (he did most of the cooking etc) "if you put the tomato slices between a leaf or two of lettuce then the bread won't be all soggy at lunchtime". He clipped me around the ear for my impertinence but he did it from then on! Bless him.
@BrainStormAcres2 жыл бұрын
@@DigwellGreenfingers worth twice the admission price Steve! And you'll never forge that clipping and the fact that he did as you observed. Ah, memories!

Hi Steve I might have enough Tom's if Meadow doesn't get in the greenhouse! Chutney looks good. I need more practice with my sweet beetroot pickle, let's just say it's chunky and a wee bit runny.🤪👍
@DigwellGreenfingers2 жыл бұрын
You can always reboil the beetroot pickle to remove some liquid. I do that on occasion when a jam doesn't set quite right 🙂

Hey Steve, I am not a big fan of most chutneys esp the mango ones. I do not like the Chinese style yellow mustards, the wasabi or horseradish. I do love hot peppers up to the scotch bonnets and those with flavor and heat. I love Indian food and esp curry. Thai and Indian curries red, yellow and green with coconut milk. So what I need to know is how and when do I use this chutney? I am going to make this one just the way you did. So How do I use this condiment? I love learning the basic and then add this and that see what the family wants me to add and then that becomes the official recipe.
@DigwellGreenfingers2 жыл бұрын
This type of chutney (most of my chutneys) is best eaten with basic foods: a chunk of crusty bread with a lump of cheese, or with a ploughman's lunch or other salad, even as a dip with crackers or crudités. It is easy to adapt to your own palette once you have tried it. I do hope you like it 🙂
