People need to understand that its possible to do it without student loans, and one way is getting all your basics done at a community College thats in your area. My locals community Colleges credit price for living in the area is only $52 a credit! While the university in my area is $209 a credit! The one credit at my university could pay for a whole class at my community college!

Luckily for me, I still got the "quintessential" college experience because I completed my associates in high school. I recommend this path to anyone young enough that has that option available to them. $79 a credit at my local community college during high school sure was better than the $1,000+ per credit that I'd have to pay at my university.😭

Girl I just have to applaud you for your determination to go to college while working to pay for it! it’s comforting to know for people like me, I always make myself feel miserable and cry because I’m working my ass off just to pay for college meanwhile some others have it easy and get full ride scholarships. I just get really sad because I feel like a disappointment to my parents because I couldn’t achieve a scholarship and instead paying for it all. I’ve been able to pay off every semester when payments due and no debt rn, I hope it’s worth it in the end. Update! I finally got a books and tuition scholarship at my college in exchange for me tutoring 15 hrs a week, I’m so happy, the amount of times I would cry every time I saw my school bill 😭I’m just so relieved that now I can save more money. Good luck to everyone.

1) snoopy is awesome 2) I am so glad that I didn't stay at that one college I went after being bullied because I wouldve been 200,000 dollars in debt 3) financial aid is such a bitch when it comes to having a developmental disability ( it has taken me 8 years to get my bachelors and I will be graduating in May), but once you get to the age of 22 universities and colleges ( and even VESID - new york disability services) cut off your funding in so many ways. Because of my developmental disability it has taken me longer and because I didn't have the traditional high school experience no one talked to me about my future, but i had to go to college because there was no job opportunity where i lived. Luckily i just got a job and I am only 9,000 dollars in debt, but the system is askew for sure.

Thanks, from NY area.

Well that depends if you're filing as an independent or as a dependent. All through college my parents claimed me so I really never got anything back (other than like $200 or $300 from my job job) so I can't speak on how much you'll get back as an independent, but I know you would get stuff back if you did file that way!

I honestly used my looks and started doing cosplay as a black girl and started making bank quick for mortuary school. There are a whole lotta creeps out there but Ive managed. Do I regret it? Yes. 💀 Also I dont stay on campus and community college is way cheaper, able to pay that off really quick. Then I will soon be doing a transfer so I can get my morticians degree. The best decision ive ever made.

Wait so once you’re and upperclassmen at OSU it costs less than if you’re a freshman?
@MyDriftingDesk3 жыл бұрын
essentially yes because you don't have to pay for housing on campus, still have rent, but that's usually cheaper, and the same with the meal plan, groceries are usually cheaper. Class costs stay the same, but what you're owing the university decreases because no meal plan and no dorm room, you just pay rent + groceries on your own!

10000 a year is really not that bad
@MyDriftingDesk5 жыл бұрын
it's a big chunk of change to come up with for 3 years on your own though lol. it's not the WORST, but still bad.

In Ireland we pay 3,000 for fees and anywhere between 3,500-7,000 for accommodation depending on where you go. That's it, for the year. Then we have grants for anyone with a single parent, with disabilities, from low income families. The fact that Americans pay that much is ridiculous.

@MyDriftingDesk3 жыл бұрын
Loans are always an option, but not the best for everyone. You could always try and save money and go later. You don't have to follow the "traditional" go to college right after high school route.

Well, I'm doing my FAFSA and I worked and only have about 1'500 saved in my bank account. I now have to get my FAFSA verified which I have no idea how to do it and I still have to take out loans high school literally teaches you nothing about this.

I'm an international student and I'm planning to go to South dakota state university and the fees etc. Is the same as yours. Do you think I can manage on my own atleast from the 2nd or 3rd year by myself due to family situations?? And are the Grants and aid given, and part time jobs any different due to the covid?? situation? Haha sorry that I'm 8 months late, awesome video^_^
@MyDriftingDesk4 жыл бұрын
Im not sure how the grants/aid is working now with Covid. That would be a great question for your school, so I would contact them to be sure. I'm also not sure if that is manageable to you because everyone is different and handles things differently. it very well could be for some people, but it could also be too much for some people. I wish you all the best!
