For Westerners, life in SE Asia is interesting and adventurous because it's new, different and almost opposite to the typical life in the US. The locals there are also fond of Westerners. However, if you asked 1st generation Asian-Americans who grew up there part of their early lives and came to the US and finished their formative years, I think "most" would say that SE Asia is fun for a vacation but to live there is another thing. At least that's the case with me, my relatives and friends, which are Cambodian, Thai and Vietnamese. All of us have the financial means to live in SE Asia very comfortably. The majority who do go back to live there permanently are retirees of the older generation. Life in the economic powerhouse that is the US is just too impersonal for old age. I have relatives in SE Asia who'd love for me to come back and live there. I've been visiting every 2-3 years for almost 20 years. The first few times were very nice when I traveled and saw all the places I wanted to see. The nostalgia I felt when meeting relatives/friends from my childhood days was emotionally satisfying. Later it became boring because you can't keep talking about what you did when you were 10. After a while, you realize your interests and theirs are totally different but I still go because it's family. For them, they dream of coming to the US. I also agree with the comments that life in the US is routine. But if I had the freedom to wander, most of my time would be spent in the western states of the US, western Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. I just love the geological diversity these places have to offer. After N. America is Europe with so much old human history still preserved among modernity. And lastly, some parts of Central and South America. Adventure, love and purpose of life are really personal. You go where your soul gravitates and your mind find interesting. If a place makes you happy, that's where you belong. For Lilly, I can see/feel the happiness she is emoting. It's really beautiful! With her blue eyes, pretty smile and business mind, she's gold. The bi-racial children will be adored by both families and both cultures. I know because I have Euro-Asians in my family and they seem to be the center of attention most of their lives. Finding yourself isn't easy. Being poor is hard but money doesn't necessarily make you rich. Enjoyed your vlogs. Best of luck with your baby!

I was head over heels for this one guy based on his physical features but then when we connected it went down south fast because the chemistry wasn't there and the less we connected the less he became unattractive not because he wasn't handsome but because there wasn't chemistry. What I'm trying to say is looks can only go so far because at the end of the day you want someone that truly cares about you, someone you can have deep conversations with and so on. Fast forward to now I've been seeing a guy for six months and the chemistry is definitely there and the more I got to know him the more handsome he became to me. Lol

I think women get to a point in life, especially when they've been treated poorly in previous relationships when you realise that if you've met a good man so you should just go for it and not be worried about it meeting "conventional standards" (whatever that means). A kind heart, honest & caring man is more attractive than anything. Good luck to them both!
@Dina523283 жыл бұрын
@@VitaBySam I agree and I can relate to your comment. Many years ago, as a young 20-year old, naive girl, I fell in love head over heels, with an extremely handsome European man. After a short courtship, we got married and I left my family, friends, and country to go to Europe and live with him. I was swept away by his good looks but what a big mistake because the next 10 years were a living hell. As handsome as he was on the outside, he was the ugliest and most horrible human being on the inside. Eventually, with the support of my family back in the US, I gathered up enough courage to leave him and came back home. As the plane took off, I felt like I had been liberated from a monster👺. After being treated so poorly, I swore I would NEVER put myself in a similar situation by making bad choices. I remained single until my mid-fifties until I met the nicest, most caring, humble human being I had ever met. He was older than me and came into our marriage with very little to offer except his love and endless devotion. For the first time in my life, my days were filled with joy and laughter. Sadly, after 12 years of happiness, he passed away from complications due to Alzheimer's. Young people take note, regardless of good looks or material things, it's the inner beauty in a person that counts and that is Priceless ❤.

I look at successful people in life and they all have things in common such as taking chances, I mean HUGE chances, not being afraid to try things. Just based on this short 10 min video I can tell this lady is a business woman and a hustler which also means at one point things work out by themselves because of all the time and energy were invested in life.

I've just watched about 4 or 5 of your posts. Very interesting to hear stories from a female expat. I'm an Asian American from Hawaii (so I like your restaurant's name) living in Samut Prakan since 2012 with my Thai wife. Impressive that your mother was so encouraging for you to make such a major change in your life. I just added your channel to my short list of subscriptions. Keep up the great work and congratulations on your growing family!

In April of 2019 I came to Thailand to experience the water festival. And walking around in Pattaya I sat down in this bar and there was this Thai woman who was limping, and she took care of the paperwork and made sure everyone got their drinks. And there was something I just liked about watching her do her job. We begin to talk and it wasn't long before we just started spending a lot of time together. When she was 21 she had a terrible motorbike accident and pretty much lost the use of her leg. I came back for 2 months Sept & Oct and we spent every day together when she wasn't working. Then the pandemic came and we have been apart since. She lost her job and went back to her family's home. It's very hard for her to find work. No one wants to hire a disabled person. But I'm hoping soon to come back to Thailand around Oct. and spend more time with her,,,,,,,,Thai people just have a wonderful outlook on life. Thailand can change your life,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Hello Lilly, I was just about to hit the sack. When I saw this video from the corner of my eye. HOW I MET MY THAI HUSBAND. So I decided to stay up for a little while and watch. You have a beautiful personality and very photogenic looks. Listening to you , you said you were blessed. I saw that the first time I saw your videos, and now I can say, I am all shook up. I think the better way, I could say is I am all hooked up. I recently saw your video of Luke's 5th birthday, and you looked so happy, which made me happy too. You deserve all the happiness that you can breathe now. With a great man in your life, and 3 gorgeous kids. Who could ask for anything more. You also have a great nanny, that cares about you and your family. I want you to be the happiest woman on this planet, and you rightly deserve it. Take care, and keep smiling. God Bless.

Your story encourages me to embrace being outside of my comfort zone and to do things I haven’t done before. Your video has reminded me that it’s ok to feel scared. When I was 20 I felt a calling to travel and also had my eyes opened with families in Sumatra, Indonesia. I felt the same, these people had so little but their joy was so big 💜 It stayed with me and has guided me to live simply and follow inspiration. I like to teach my kids that perspective + how they feel is what matters most in life. I haven’t travelled in 10 yrs bc we have put everything into our businesses, but I’m excited to show my kids other parts of the world soon. I’m excited to open their eyes frm a culture that emphisizes having every want met in order to feel happiness ….and rather show them that focusing on any blessing will always bring happiness. We always have something to feel grateful for and how we feel matters most. Thks for sharing your story. A podcast I love is “Joshua Live” by teachings of Joshua, they teach these same ideas on feeling acceptance of life + others, letting go of controlinh everything, focusing on blessings, taking life less serious, and feeling joy! They always bring me out of ego/fear thought and back to feeling love 💜

Thank you Lilly for sharing your life experience and I am so happy for you, Wat and Luke. My relationship here in the US is similar to yours. I was married for 25 years and ended 2004. I started my own business and was successful but I am not happy I am still single. I have been in Thailand before when I was in the US Marine and I loved it. I said to myself that I would return to Thailand some day. I sold my business in June 2019 and I was planning to Expat to Thailand just like you. Then of course the pandemic occurred and I wasn't able to visit. I am a truly fan of your channel and would just love to meet you and your family just to say Hi!
