Just sharing one of my favourite scenes from How I Met Your Mother.

this would've been okay if tony never made the wedding bride. the least they could've done after the shitty wedding decision was respect him and leave him be. but no. tony and stella are by far the worst couple the gang ever interacted with.

I wish they never included the movie plot. It kinda ruins this beautiful moment of Ted meeting go of his anger in favor of Stella and Tony getting their happy ending because he believes in true love. It added unneeded pain and was just kinda ridiculous. I would have rather we never saw Stella again until the end where she’s mentioned as a key heartbreak Ted had to have before finding the mother

Yeah, Tony making the movie changes him from a slightly grating guy who deep down truly was the love of Stella's life, to just a petty @ss. And it somewhat vindicates Ted's hypothetical rant. Really Stella? THAT guy???

On one hand he made a movie that just shows ted as a jerk, (and apparently later capitalizes on him and other adventures he had with his friends that didn't even had to do his relationship with stella, given other clips we saw in later episodes about how that movie had at least 2 sequels), but on the other hand, it set him up to the path of eventually meeting his future wife and mother of his kids and having a job he actually liked ..... so 50/50 ?

this actually happened to me. i was dating someone for a while, they would always talk crap about their ex. their ex cheated on them and manipulated them for 3 years, needless to say, after dating for awhile, he left me for his ex. i feel ted to another level. i always thought he would regret it, because i thought they weren’t meant to be. but this scene shows me that those two deserve each other, they do are meant for each other, i see it, and the love of my life was still out there... waiting for me. this scene helped so much go through my breakup.

I can really relate to that. I used to have someone, but she left me for someone else. So I felt like there was no hope in the world and anger and hatred are the only things how I view life from that point on. But I can finally see now that it wasn’t meant to be, so this time around I just let it go and move on. It may not be my perfect love story, but I know that mine is still somewhere out there waiting for me.

Having Stella and Tony make that awful movie later on, especially after Tony demonstrated no hate for Ted, was such a weird decision. The only way I see it making sense is that Tony is genuinely such a talentless hack of a writer that the only story he could cough up, was the one about running away with Stella, but he didn't wanna come across like an asshole so he put the blame on Ted instead.

What is really freaky is I'm literally going through this right now. A girl I was once into and had a summer fling with out of the blue decided to block me while we were trying to just be friends. She even went out of her way to delete every Discord DM she sent me and all Snapchats I saved. I've long suspected she was dating her new roommate and now today I saw a tiktok video of hers which confirmed that. I have been so angry with her for weeks now and am now even more furious. I really want to say something to her some how, but a friend of mine was advising me to just let it go and now I'm here. I feel like a lot of my life lately has been exactly what Ted was going through. Very spooky.

One thing I love about this scene is that as soon as Ted comes to the realisation that Stella was going to Tony's you can hear the small hum of the music and as he gets angrier the music rises. Also I like how at 1:30 you can see Lily begin to smile as she realises he's about to burst

This scene was perfect until all his anger went away when he saw Stella and her daughter with Tony. No one would instantly let go of their anger once they saw their ex-girlfriend who left them at the alter with the guy she left him for. Their anger would almost certainly be amplified. The writers should’ve had Ted let go of his anger not because he was happy for them, but because, like he said, it’s the only way to move on, which is a more realistic and impactful reason. After all, isn’t that the real message of the scene?

Ted and Stella were about to get married, but her ex Tony wouldn’t let their daughter come to the wedding. Ted went to Tony’s place to convince him to let Lucy come, but invites Tony to the wedding in the process. On top of that, Stella was uncomfortable with Robin attending because she is Ted’s ex and soon enough both Tony and Robin are at the wedding. Ted suggests to Stella that he should talk to Robin about leaving and most likely during Ted and Robin’s conversation, Tony and Stella have one off-screen where she decides to get back together with Tony, leaving Ted at the altar.
