Something i love is that the demo and final mix are not night and day, it's more like the Morning becoming A summer Noon or The night becoming Midnight, the full mix sounds like a fully evolved version, shows that you kept the main ideas and stuck to the creative vision
@sopi_beats27 күн бұрын
Thank you for leaving this lovely comment! I personally think that a good mix is one that is the closest possible interpretation of how the artist envisions their song to *sound*, whereas production is more focused on the most accurate depiction of the *feeling* they want to convey.

Really like your gain staging process, everything averaging that 0 on the VU meter makes them uniform and they're loud enough to give all plugins the same energy to perform. Will start doing that more often

That was a dope video, very thorough. The comparison with demo and finished version was a nice touch you could really see the impact of your intervention as the producer on the track. Wishing you all the best and keep up the great content!

Try using "Clarity Vx Pro" by Waves next time to get rid of any room noise. Set the "Neural Network" type to "Broad 2" and play around with the knob in the center. Go more toward the "VOICE" direction. Try not to go above 40 because you will get artifacts and it will sound unNatural .

Thank you for your suggestion! I'm not particularly a fan of the Waves payment model but I appreciate you for taking the time to tell me about this :)

What are those certificates on the wall behind you? I have too many other questions to ask you about mixing. You obviously know what you are doing, please continue to make these instructional videos, you are awesome. 😊
@sopi_beats27 күн бұрын
the certificates on the wall are from when i went to 1500 Sound Academy in LA for their sound engineering, songwriting, mixing, and music business programs! i'm very open to answering any questions you have about the process and helping people out in any way i can, so ask away :) is there anything in particular you'd like me to cover in a future video? thank you for your support!!
@jeffreydeasel927 күн бұрын
@sopi_beats wow, and to think I was impressed before seeing your education background. Thank you so much for your response. I think my questions might fall below your pay grade 😂. I am currently trying to figure out: guitar, amp, full rack of effects, new Mackie Onyx 16 channel mixer and Radial reamping device. Never mind the Waveform software that I downloaded. The theory of the entire process isn't new to me, but getting everything to work together is proving to be a giant headache. Maybe you have already covered the bulk of this issue. I've watched many, many videos and no one seems to have a specific answer for my needs. Again, thank you sooooo much for responding, I'm sure sooner or later I will figure it out 🧐

girl what mic are u using ?! also this vid is amazing there's so much valuable stuff in here already feel my mixing game improving thank u so much 😭 a question about the gain staging process tho... are we adjusting each track's level to reach 0 VU from the fader or somewhere else ? thanks so much and a lotta love 🙏🏽
@sopi_beats2 ай бұрын
hi there! thank u so much for your support, super glad i can help out in this way 🙏 i’m using a $20 mic from urban outfitters LMAO i think its called the kirkkerland min mic but im sure you can find similar options for cheaper on amazon! about gain staging, we are adjusting the level without using the faders at all and just increasing the “clip gain” in protools its called clip gain, in logic its called region gain but it all depends on what daw you are using but all they are doing is changing the level of the track itself, independent from the fader. another way to do this would be to use a gain plugin for each track and increase from there hope this helps! lmk if u have any questions :)

Plugins should work well with any signal level! 0vu is a myth. Otherwise thanks for the video, it's interesting to watch the process of other sound engineers.
@sopi_beats2 ай бұрын
thank you so much for your support! i'm glad that other sound engineers find this video helpful or interesting as well. regarding the "0vu myth" Actually, there is most definitely a difference in how "hot" a signal is coming into a plugin! you can try it out yourself by increasing the clip gain of your audio file and see how your plugin reacts. this is most apparent in compressors; if your signal is much lower than 0 VU, your compressor wouldn't even react even if you turn the input all the way up. conversely, if the clip gain is too high, your compressor will end up reacting to everything. although you can just lower the input in the plugin itself, its far easier to just have your clip gain set from the beginning instead of taking extra steps to compensate for signals coming in "too hot" or "not hot enough" yes, all plugins should technically work at any signal level, but bringing your clip gain to 0 VU ensures that your plugin behaves in a way that is standardized and predictable every time you use it :)
