Glad to see your hives this spring. I won't go into my boxes until 3/15/23 this spring. I'm in mid-Missouri and that's normal for me. Newer beekeepers around St Louis are saying they want to split because of the warmer winter we had. Way too early in my opinion. I think your spring treatment in pretty much on track from last year. I'll do washes and decide if I have to treat this spring. I may follow your lead and see if Formicpro works well for me if I need to treat. You sure had good results last year! Thanks for showing us what you are doing.

Thank you. I prefer a little patience on splitting myself too. I actually like to let my weaker colonies build up later and split them and let my best make honey.

Thanks for the video Randall. Those are some nice boxes that should hold up for many years. Good luck this spring and I hope you do a video on mite washes again.

Randall, nice video! You have mentioned in several of your videos that you are not going for a big honey crop this year (after a large one last year). Please explain your reasoning.

Thank you. I work a fulltime job and have limited time to work on beekeeping. I have had good success in honey production in the past but I need much improvemant in other areas of my beekeeping. I need to learn queen rearing and better mite management and I have roughly the same time to work with so. In short I am getting burned in mid to late summer last 2 years and I need to make this fun again. I also want to start selling nucs in spring to spread out the work load.

You are welcome, it helps me too when I look back months later. I wish I would have done it from the beginning.
