NOTES TO SELF: Stay focused, disciplined, get it done. Have a Plan B backup just in case. Shitheads talk shit. 1. Set up Aus Bank a/c from NZ (ANZ) 2. Organise temp job with Recruitment Agency from NZ 3. White Card needed for manual labour 4. Organise temp accommodation until find own place (will need one when doing the courses) 5. Reliable car (don't cheapskate) 6. Manual labour experience

A forklift license is a good one to get, it takes only a day but will open doors for you, especially for temp jobs.

Also get your Au drivers license and sign up for medicare, have two bank cards both from different banks (keep your one from NZ) as this is a powerful form of ID. For public transport, the best form is the train, try to make use of it but avoid the Armadale line.

Kool information mate , I’m from NZ & in a coal mine in NSW. I simply randomly messaged my CV to a mine company from face book , the next day I had a phone call from their recruitment agency for a ph interview, a week later I attended a face to face interview in Auckland. I passed that & they payed for me to fly to Brisbane for a medical , 1 night accommodation, then flew me back to NZ. 2 weeks later got the ph call asking when I can start. I’m not only given free accommodation at the mine camp while on work roster , but even my days off. It doesn’t cost me a cent to live & work their for up to a year.

Excellent vid. Tbf, watching a year later and here in Perth 7mths, in my view, public transport is excellent. Love taking the train, cheap as, $50 week from south suburbs to Perth Cbd a week. Buses in cbd zone are free. Granted, easier with a car to the industrial areas, probably usually means a train and connecting bus, or just the bus. I do see loads of tradies on the train in the morning. Stress free compared with the freeways.
