Here is the tip over all tips! Work hard to learn the language. When you become good at it, you can communicate with Danes, Norveigens and often with Finns. Many Finns speak Swedish. I have seen a British woman, who speaks Swedish communicate with a Dane. As a Dane, I speak Danish to my Swedish friends, and they speak Swedish to me. There are a few differences to learn. An example: Rolig in Danish means quiet and calm. In Swedish, it means fun. Good luck.

New Swedish sub here. Interesting look into the immigration process that I didn't know very much about. I have a feeling that the eye of the needle is getting narrower when it comes to immigrating to Sweden from non-EU countries (there's been a bit of a political shift on this point over the last few years) so good for you to have made it through. I haven't spent a lot of time in Kalmar (I'm in the Stockholm area) but it seems to be a nice city with a lot of history (look up the Kalmar Union if you haven't already) and of course it's just a bridge away from one of the favorite Swedish vacation destinations, the island of Öland. Looking forward to following your journey as a new resident.

Thank you! Öland is lovey, i've been there in the summer months camping, highly recommend, and its so close to Kalmar. I plan to show more of that area. And yes, talk bout timing with the narrowing of the immigration process, very grateful to have made it through!

Thank you for explaning! As a Swede i belive the process is about avoiding imigation fraud, mail brides, and human trafiking? The thing is.. males that move to sweden seldom talk about the Residency Permit struggle.. mayby becuse they come on a job or student Visa? Or they talk about the strugle to stay.. when they want to stay and get a permanent resident permit. Anyhow, one need to have a Swedish ID-card to do anything in sweden, for that one need a 13 months temporary permit or a permanent permit! And one apply for that at our Tax agency, (skatteverket).. go guess why its our tax agency how handle that?? Its becuse they uphold the population register, so they know who is entitaled to recive full service/benefits! And to learn swedish.. its one of the easyest for english speaker to learn.. the only drawback can be, that swedes is better att speaking English then you speaking Swedish! Soo we tend to switch to English to make conversation smother!

I wonder if that can be a translation issue - that they wan to know if you were married before (I don't see why that would matter). I think they want to make sure that you are not already married to someone else.

Or if the answer is "this is my forth marriage" 😂
