You’re the reason I can run in just a sports bra. Back in that video you mentioned, you said nobody cares what you look like and if you try to remember what the last person you saw running looked like, you can’t. This changed my life.

Thanks for sharing your story. Being an elite athlete from such a young age is such a big struggle that not a lot of people talk about. Gymnasics, dance, running, etc is what fucks up young women for life with body dysmorphia or worse. I feel like it should be part of coaches training in sports like these to prepare for this. I feel like if someone told me everything that happened to me was normal but instead I was met with “remember when you had a visible six pack? You were so strong” To everyone out there. It’s dangerous not to have your period. It’s okay to grow taller. It’s okay to have bigger hips and thighs and not have a visible six pack. It’s okay to be a woman

As a 30 year old who had eating disorders from age 12-25 I’m still struggling to overcome my body image issues, even though my eating is now “normal.” It does feel somewhat impossible to overcome when I grew up with so little self esteem. I like your tip about removing mirrors.. I think that could definitely help me!

I’m glad you’re sharing this. I struggled and was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa during my adolescence and it took away a lot from my life, including my love for tennis and running. However, I recovered and gained my life back. Once one starts to adopt a true healthy athlete mentality and self-care + coping skills , body appearance is thrown out the window!

I can't believe how much spare time i have now that my world doesnt revolve around food and body! I feel like my life has now fully taken off. Love your channel so much!

Thank you so much for making this video. Just finished my first marathon & even though I’m very proud of the accomplishment, the marathon photos really threw me off possibly from some body dysmorphia. Watching this really helped - thanks a ton!!

It is shocking how many young women have eating disorders. A female trainer at my gym who ran D-1 in college has endless stories of it. Several college age women at the gym have been there. All are runners or soccer players.

Damn do I relate to this...thanks for posting. IT is interesting how you think you're the only one that thinks like this, but then you hear other people's stories and you realize you're not alone at all.

Fair play for sharing your experience Emma, it's not easy. I've been dealing with separating my own chaotic eating habits from those of my best friend, who has had a very unhealthy relationship with food for as long as I've known her. I've tried to be as supportive as I can to her, but as I'm now dealing with a situation of my own, I've had to take a step back from any unhealthy references she makes because it's starting to affect how I deal with my insecurities. It's reassuring see that someone else has been able to handle a similar situation. Glad to see you're doing well ❤👟

Thank you for sharing a video like this! I wish I’d seen more things like this when I was growing up. My running performance suffered quite a bit after I was given the advice “the less you weigh, the faster you’ll run because you’ll have to move less weight”. I was in 7th grade, so obviously I still had some growing to do, and it was a massive, unneeded stress for me, for years. I didn’t even know that I had an ED for a long time because diet culture, bad body image, and “runners need to be thin” were such common ideas to me. Fuel your bodies, fellas!

you are a beautiful person and your body shape has little to do with that. It's about your expression, your vibe. Very happy to know something helped you get away from that awful destructive state. Keep the good work, you can feel proud of it.
