I think this is the best presentation of solvent-free practices I have seen on KZbin. Thanks for going into detail about the things you have tried and what worked for you. It was really helpful.

Thank you for talking about varnish! I’m trying to go solvent free in my practice and haven’t found anyone else talk about that part yet :)

Thank you!! And I’m glad it was helpful! I’m continue to be impressed by the products that Natural Earth Paints put out. The varnish and eco-solvent were huge for my solvent free practice 💕

Thanks for the in depth to your setup. Totally off topic, but love the cat in the background 😊

Thanks so much for your video! I’m looking up the eco products now. What do you use to prime your canvases/ your preferred substrate to paint on?

On my first year trying oil paint i also used solvent but i used it wayyy too much then it makes my skin itch, then i try gamblin solvent free gel & liquid and i love them. For clean the brush, after every painting session i wipe my brush with rags and dip it once or twice to safflower oil and wipe again with rags and lay them flat then cover it with rags to use it for the next day. But if i dont paint for couple of days, i use gamsol to clean it after painting session and then clean it with soap and water.

Yes, I’ve heard of people getting contact dermatitis from solvents. Thanks for sharing your process with me! 💕💕🎨🎨

Very informative and helpful. Thank you! I’m gave up oil painting this year when I got pregnant. However I really miss it. Based on your knowledge on this topic, would you say it would be safe to use oil paints while pregnant using this solvent free approach and replacing with the eco solve?

Congratulations! I would definitely recommend bringing it up with your doctor or midwife. It’s likely they won’t know about eco-solvers off hand but on their website ( naturalearthpaint.com/eco-solve/ ) under the tap labeled “technical info” they have their certified safety information, your healthcare provider could look at this information and help you make a personalized choice. Part of why I switched to this method was with the safety of my kids in mind (they’re always popping into my studio lol) however, I discovered this system a year or so after my youngest was born so I just painted with acrylics during pregnancy. I know that safety in pregnancy is of the utmost importance and I would definitely differ to a medical expert in this instance. Sorry that wasn’t a super solid answer. I wish you the safest and smoothest pregnancy! And thanks for the kind words💕💕💕

Can one use the Gamblin Solvent Free Gel with Water Soluble Oils?
@asilrashid19796 ай бұрын
I started oil painting with ONLY water mixable oil paints. Traditional oils was not an option for me as I do not have a dedicated space or art studio. I paint in a small corner of my bedroom next to the window and I have an 8 year old daughter so traditional oils was definitely a no no for me. But my preferred medium is still acrylic as even the water soluble oil paints can get messy and they still off has a little bit.

Thank you for sharing! From what I’ve heard and researched water soluble oils are definitely the most polarizing solvent free option. They’re such a great option if you want the look of oils without the need for ventilation. I’m so glad you found a way to paint! Happy painting 🎨💕☺️
