Thanks for this video. Just wondering - how much overlap would you say there is between the part B exam and the CST interviews?
@AlexanderFYoung

@@TheWorldwideMedic There is a definite overlap between the clinical section of the interview and the case-based stations. For example pancreatitis and post-op DVT have been asked at both Part B and CST interviews. Questions cover safe surgical management with Part B probing more into pathology and applied science while the interviews focus on safe clinical management. The interview clinical section is only 10-mins in length with x2 5-min scenarios usually covering an emergency and a post-op medical issue. For example, I got an upper GI bleed and how to manage it acutely and then a second scenario asked about a patient with post-operative chest pain which was medical ward management. Lmk if a CST interview breakdown video would be helpful as I came in the top 5 in the country for CST and have also run lots of CST interview prep courses :)

What is your approach to the examination stations. Do you verbally describe what you are examining and finding while carrying out the examination or do you examine in silence and then present your findings?

Hello Alex. An excellent video which I throughly enjoyed watching. In particularly, favouring the Edinburgh MRCS Prep Course (I happen to be the course director - Zahid Raza!). I shall certainly recommend your video to future course attendees as it gives an excellent overview of the exam and how to prepare for it. I hope you don't mind me doing that. Of course, congratulations on passing the exam and wish you the very best in your surgical career!

Hi alex by saying that we need to pass 70 percent of the exam.. does it mean we need to score more that 70% of 160 in knowledge and 70% in skills or just passing 70 percentage of the stations meaning if we fail in 2 and get lower marks .. can u clear me on that

Thank you for the explanatory video. I would like to know about any practical issues(pros and cons) related to job opportunities in the UK like CS or ST3 levels when you have MRCS awarded from IRELAND. ALL the websites state all the 4 colleges are equal. Are there any BUT????????? here. Thank You!!!

Hi Alex.. Is 4 months enough,to pass part B, for someone who just passed part A? Also , does it matter if an international medical graduate gives the exam in the UK or some other Asian country?
@AlexanderFYoung

Hey Nayan, 4 months of focused practise should be enough. The test centers outside the U.K. are standardised so I’d recommend sitting the exam in the location that is easiest for you to travel to :)
